Hey everyone, today I’m gonna talk about the “best player to never win a major.” It’s something I’ve been messing around with lately, and I figured I’d share my whole process with you guys.
So, first off, I started by just thinking about who even comes to mind when we talk about this. Lots of names popped up, but one that really stuck was Colin Montgomerie. I mean, the dude’s amazing, but no major wins. That got me thinking, what does it even take to win a major?
I started imagining the perfect game, you know? Like, 18 perfect tee shots, 18 perfect second shots, and then just sinking putts like it’s nothing. Sounds crazy, right? But that’s kinda what you gotta do. Get on the green fast, and nail those putts.
Then I remembered something I saw about Scottie Scheffler winning Olympic gold. The guy was four shots back and pulled it off. And apparently, he got all emotional during the national anthem! It made me realize how much pressure these guys are under. Winning a major is a huge deal.

I also stumbled upon some stuff about Patrick Cantlay. Another great player who hasn’t snagged a major yet. It’s tough out there!
Digging Deeper
So, after all that, I started looking more into the “best players to never win a major” debate. There are so many opinions out there! But yeah, Colin Montgomerie’s name kept coming up as a top contender. It got me pondering, how do you even measure who’s the “best” if they haven’t won the big one? It’s all so subjective.
Anyway, that’s my little journey into the world of major-less champions. It’s a fun rabbit hole to go down. It shows you how tough this sport really is and makes you appreciate those major wins even more. I’ll keep you posted if I find out anything new or change my mind. This whole thing has been a blast, and I hope you found it interesting, too!
