Alright, let’s talk about this card game I’ve been hooked on lately, it’s called Marvel Snap, and I’ve been trying to figure out the best way to use this Sebastian Shaw character. So Shaw, he’s a 3-cost card, with a starting power of 4, but here’s the thing – his power gets a +2 boost every time he gets a permanent power-up. So, naturally, I wanted to make a deck that just pumps this guy up as much as possible.
My First Attempts
I started off pretty basic. I threw in cards that I thought would buff him up. Forge, for example, gives the next card you play +2 power. Then there’s Silver Surfer, which bumps up all your 3-cost cards by +2. I even added in things like Iron Lad and Wong, just thinking, “Hey, more power is better, right?”
My first few games? Total disaster. I was so focused on Shaw that I didn’t really have a good strategy for everything else. It was like, I had this one big gun, but nothing to back it up. I was losing more than I was winning, and it was pretty frustrating.
The Turning Point
That’s when I realized I needed to change things up. I started looking at what other players were doing. Browsing the community, I found that some people use specific cards to help him, and I realized I needed to balance my deck. It’s not just about Shaw, it’s about having a good mix of cards that work well together.
So, I started experimenting. I took out some of the cards that were only there for Shaw and added in cards that could help me control the board or draw more cards. Like, I put in Zabu, to make some of my 4-cost cards cheaper, and America Chavez, to make sure I had a strong play on turn 6.
Finding the Right Mix
This was a game-changer. Suddenly, I wasn’t just relying on Shaw. I had options. I could play other cards to win locations, or I could save up to make a big Shaw play if the opportunity was right. It was like, instead of just having a hammer, I now had a whole toolbox.
I started winning more. Not every game, of course, but enough to make it feel like I was actually getting somewhere. I kept tweaking the deck, swapping cards in and out, trying to find that perfect balance.
My Go-To Deck (For Now)
Here’s what I’ve landed on, at least for now:
- Forge: Still a great way to give Shaw an early boost.
- Nico Minoru: Her spell can also add power to Shaw.
- Zabu: Helps me play my 4-cost cards earlier.
- Silver Surfer: That +2 boost to all 3-cost cards is just too good.
- Absorbing Man: Copying Forge or other buff cards? Yes, please!
- Cerebro: If I can keep all my cards at the same power, this gives a nice boost.
- Iron Lad: Always a gamble, but he can copy some powerful effects.
- Magik: Sometimes, you just need that extra turn to set up.
- Sebastian Shaw: The star of the show, of course.
- Sera: Making my cards cheaper on the last turn? Crucial.
- Valkyrie: A great way to mess with my opponent’s high-power cards and set all cards at a location to 3.
- America Chavez: Guaranteed strong play on turn 6.
This deck isn’t perfect, and I’m sure I’ll keep making changes. But for now, it’s been working pretty well. I’ve learned that it’s not just about finding the “best” cards for Shaw, it’s about finding the best cards that work together with Shaw. It’s a process, you know? But that’s what makes it fun. I started to feel the fun of this game, and the joy of sharing it. Keep snappin’!
