Alright, listen up, y’all. Let’s talk about this here Nuggets and Timberwolves game, or whatever they call it. Folks keep jabberin’ about it, so I figured I’d put in my two cents, even if I don’t know a lick about basketball.
Now, they tellin’ me the Nuggets been beatin’ up on the Timberwolves for a long time, somethin’ like 89 wins to 56. But these Timberwolves, they ain’t no pushovers no more. They sayin’ the teams split the last two times they played, so it ain’t a sure thing like it used to be.
This game, it’s gonna be in Minnesota, that big city place. They callin’ it the Target Center. Sounds fancy, huh? Game’s on TV, too, on that ESPN channel. Friday night, 8:30, they say. Not that I’ll be watchin’. I got chores to do.
Them fellas who make the odds, they’re sayin’ the Timberwolves are gonna win by 4.5 points. What that means, I ain’t exactly sure. But I reckon it means they think the Timberwolves are a bit better. They also got this number, 219.5. That’s how many points they think both teams gonna score together. Seems like a lot of points to me. Back in my day, we didn’t have all these fancy numbers.
- Nuggets vs Timberwolves
- Game on Friday night
- Timberwolves favored to win
There’s this young fella, Anthony Edwards, plays for the Timberwolves. He’s been yappin’ about how they gonna win. Kids these days, always so confident. He made some big prediction ’bout a Game 7, whatever that is. Sounds important.
Last year, the Nuggets, they beat the Timberwolves in some kind of series, five games it was. And then they went on to win the whole shebang, the NBA title they call it. Big deal, I guess. But this year, they say the Timberwolves are better. They got a tough defense, like a good ol’ fence around the henhouse.
And now they’re sayin’ the Nuggets are the favorites to win the whole Western Conference thing. See, it’s all just a bunch of guessin’ and predictin’. Nobody really knows what’s gonna happen. That’s why they play the game, ain’t it?
Someone was talkin’ ’bout this fella named Nikola Jokić. Says he’s gonna score more than 27.5 points. That’s a lot of points for one fella! They also talkin’ ’bout the “spread” and the “over/under.” Sounds like a bunch of mumbo jumbo to me. They are predictin’ that Denver Nuggets will cover the spread (-4.5). I say, just throw the ball and see who gets it in the basket more times.
So, what’s my prediction? Well, I ain’t got one. Basketball’s a funny game. Sometimes the best team don’t win. Sometimes a fella has a lucky day. But I reckon it’ll be a close game, seein’ as how they both been playin’ good lately. And I reckon the folks in Minnesota will be cheerin’ loud for their Timberwolves. May the best team win, that’s what I say. It’s gonna be a tight game.
Final Pick: I ain’t makin’ no promises, but if I had to choose, I’d say the Timberwolves gonna win. They’re playin’ at home, and they got that young fella Edwards who’s full of fire. And don’t count out that Nikola Jokić fella, though. He might just have himself a day. But, you know, anything can happen. That’s why they play the game, like I said.
