Alright, let’s talk about this Mike Gesicki fella and his contract. You know, the football player? Yeah, that one. He plays that…uh…tight end position, I think they call it. Always catchin’ the ball, runnin’ around. Seems like a good boy, works hard, I reckon.
So, this Mike guy, he’s been movin’ around a bit, team to team. First, he was with them Miami Dolphins, right? Miami Dolphins, that’s what I heard on the TV. They gave him a pretty penny, I tell ya. Heard it was somethin’ like, uh…six million somethin’ dollars for four years. Now that’s a lot of money, even for a young fella like him. More money than I ever seen in my whole life, that’s for sure! They even gave him a big chunk of it right away, they call it a “signing bonus.” Sounded like a good deal to me at the time.
But then, things changed, you know how it goes. Football’s a business, they say. Always tradin’ and cuttin’ players. So, Miami, they let him go or somethin’. Didn’t make sense to me, he was catchin’ the ball just fine. But what do I know, I’m just watchin’ from my couch.
- He went to the Patriots for a bit, yeah, the New England Patriots. That’s Tom Brady’s old team, right? My grandson, he loves that Tom Brady fella. Anyway, Mike only stayed there for a year. Signed a one-year deal, I heard. They paid him alright, but it wasn’t as much as that Miami money, I bet.
- Then, this year, he’s with the Bengals now, the Cincinnati Bengals. They signed him for, what was it? Two and a half million? Something like that. Not bad, not bad at all. But it ain’t no six million, is it? He got some guaranteed money though, that’s good. Means he gets some cash no matter what. Four hundred thousand, they said. That’s more than enough to buy a whole lotta groceries, let me tell ya.
This new contract, it’s got some…what do you call ‘em…incentives? Yeah, that’s it. If he catches a bunch of balls, he gets extra money. Like, forty catches, fifty catches, sixty catches…more money each time. That’s smart, I guess. Keeps him motivated. Gotta work hard for that extra cash.
Now, some folks are sayin’ his contract with Miami didn’t make sense for the Dolphins. I don’t know about all that. They paid him a lot, sure, but he was a good player, I thought. Catchin’ balls and all. Maybe they just wanted to spend their money on other players, I dunno. Like I said, it’s a business. Always changin’. Gotta keep up, I guess.
This Mike Gesicki, he’s a good player. He works hard, catches the ball. That’s what matters, right? Hope he does well with the Bengals. Hope he catches all them balls and gets all that extra money. He deserves it, I reckon. Workin’ hard like that, runnin’ around on the field. It ain’t easy, I tell ya. So good luck to him, that’s what I say. Good luck to Mike Gesicki.
And all that salary cap stuff…I don’t understand none of that. They talk about percentages and numbers…it’s all gobbledygook to me. As long as he’s gettin’ paid and playin’ good, that’s all that matters. He’s a good boy, that Mike. I hope he does well.
So, to sum it all up, Mike Gesicki got paid a good chunk of money by the Dolphins, then went to the Patriots for a bit, and now he’s with the Bengals. He’s getting paid pretty good, but not as much as he used to, but he could earn more with those catchin’ bonuses. That’s about all I know. It’s a lot of money, any way you look at it. More than I’ll ever see, that’s for sure!
