Okay, so let me tell you about how I tackled this whole “Arkansas 2024 depth chart” thing. It was a bit of a rabbit hole, but kinda fun in a weird way.

First, I started by just googling “Arkansas 2024 depth chart”. Duh, right? I wanted to see what the “official” word was. Scoured through a bunch of sports news sites, ESPN, you name it. Most of ’em were just speculation, “projected” this and “predicted” that. Nothing solid.
Next up, I figured, gotta dig deeper. I checked out some of the Arkansas Razorbacks fan forums. Those guys are OBSESSED. There were endless threads arguing about who should be where. I learned a lot about specific players and their strengths/weaknesses…but it was also a LOT of opinions to sift through.
Then came the real work. I started cross-referencing everything. I made a spreadsheet (yeah, I’m that guy). I listed all the positions, then started plugging in names based on:
- What the “experts” were saying
- What the fans were saying (with a HUGE grain of salt)
- My own gut feeling after watching some game highlights
It was a total puzzle! Some guys were clear frontrunners, others were complete toss-ups. I had to consider injuries, transfers, incoming freshmen…the whole shebang. I spent a good chunk of an evening just watching highlight reels on YouTube, trying to get a feel for how the different players performed.
I even went back and looked at the 2023 season stats. Who actually played? How much did they play? That helped me narrow down some of the position battles.
Finally, I had something that resembled a depth chart. It’s not perfect, and I’m sure it’ll be completely wrong by the time the season actually starts, but it’s MY depth chart. And I put some serious effort into it.
The biggest takeaway? Don’t trust anything you read 100%. Everyone has an agenda or a bias. Do your own research and come to your own conclusions. And be prepared to be wrong. Football is crazy like that.
I think, for me, the main thing was to see how much information was out there and how differently people interpreted it. Its like putting together a news article but you’re gambling on who will play where based on the data that’s currently publicly accessible.
