Okay, so today I decided to give this crossword puzzle a shot, the one themed around the “home of the bruins and celtics”. Sounded straightforward enough, figured I’d knock it out pretty quick.

Getting Started
First thing I did was scan the clues, looking for the obvious stuff. That main theme clue, “home of the bruins and celtics,” jumped right out. My immediate thought was BOSTON. Seemed like a safe bet, maybe too obvious? Or perhaps the actual arena name? I held off filling it in right away, wanted to see what letters popped up from other words first.
I usually start with the short fill, the three or four-letter answers. You know, the ones like “Opposite of WSW” or “Common pet”. Got a few of those down, sprinkled some letters across the grid. It helps build a bit of a skeleton, gives you something to work with.
Working Through It
Then I started tackling the longer answers. There were definitely some sports-related ones, a few player names maybe, though I’m not super sharp on all the history. Had to guess on a couple based on the letters I already had in place. Like, one clue was something about a famous Bruins defenseman, ended in R R. Took me a minute, but ORR clicked eventually once I got the O from a crossing word.
The main theme answer started to take shape. It wasn’t just BOSTON. The crossing words made it clear it was looking for the specific building. I saw a G, then an A, R… ah, GARDEN. Makes sense. The TD part came a bit later when I filled in more surrounding stuff.
- Got stuck for a bit in the bottom left corner. Some weird clue about a local landmark I wasn’t familiar with.
- Had to step away for a minute, grab another cup of coffee. Sometimes just looking away helps clear your head.
- Came back and saw a word I’d filled in wrong. Corrected that, and suddenly the tricky corner made more sense.
Finishing Up
It wasn’t the hardest puzzle I’ve ever done, but it wasn’t a total cakewalk either. Some clues were pretty clever, others a bit obscure if you’re not a die-hard Boston sports fan, I guess. Finally pieced together the last few answers. There’s always that little bit of satisfaction when you fill in that final square and everything fits.
So yeah, that was my little crossword adventure for the day. Just a simple grid, themed around the Garden. A decent way to spend half an hour or so.
