That coach Norvell, he’s been yappin’ and yappin’ about somethin’. He’s the head honcho for that Colorado State team, the Rams, I reckon they call ’em. He’s been coachin’ there for a while now. I think it is his third year, you know. Time flies when you are havin’ fun.
They hired him a couple years back, 2021, I heard. Said he was gonna be the big cheese, the number 24 coach they ever had. Joe Parker, that was the fella who picked him. Don’t know much about that, but that’s what folks say. It is a big deal I think, to be that many coachin’ there, that is a lot of year passin’ by.
Before he came to Colorado State, he was coachin’ somewhere else. Nevada, they called it. Stayed there for a good while, five years, maybe more. Won some games, lost some, I suppose. That’s how it goes. He won 8 games in the last season, I heard, is that a lot? I don’t know. They beat Colorado State real bad. 52 to 10. That is a lot. I think that old coach got fired after that. Then this Norvell fella, he just packed up and came right over to Colorado State. Funny how things work out, ain’t it? Like switchin’ your old mule for a new one, but it’s the same path you’re walkin’.
Norvell, that name sounds familiar. They say this Norvell fella used to play football, way back when. Played for some big-shot college, Iowa, I think it was. He played from 1982 to 1985, it has been a while. Then, get this, he even played for the pros, for the Chicago Bears! But it was only for a little bit, like a cup of coffee, just one season. He was a linebacker, whatever that is. Probably runnin’ around, knockin’ folks down. Just practice and replacement, that is not too long.
He and that other coach, Sanders, they were throwin’ words at each other, like chickens fightin’ over a worm. Not sure what that was all about. I think it was all show, you know? Just for attention. Not sure what all that fuss was about, but it got folks talkin’. That’s what they want, I reckon. Some folks just like to stir the pot, keep things lively.
- That coach Norvell, he’s somethin’ else.
- He’s the head coach at Colorado State.
- He used to coach at Nevada, he did real good.
- He even played for the Chicago Bears!
- He likes to talk a lot, that’s for sure.
So, this Norvell, he’s been at Colorado State for, well, this is his third year, I reckon. Time sure does fly, don’t it? Seems like just yesterday he was that new fella, and now he’s the old hand. He’s got them playin’ football, winnin’ some, losin’ some, that’s how it goes. I don’t follow it too close, mind you. Got other things to worry about, like keepin’ the squirrels outta my garden and makin’ sure my preserves don’t spoil. But folks around here, they talk about it. They say Norvell, he’s doin’ alright. Not settin’ the world on fire, but keepin’ things steady. Like a good mule, he’s pullin’ his weight.
This Sanders fella, though, he’s a different story. Him and Norvell, they don’t seem to get along too good. Like two roosters in a henhouse, always somethin’ to crow about. I heard they had some words, back and forth. Don’t know what it was all about, probably somethin’ silly. Men and their games, always tryin’ to one-up each other. Like boys in the schoolyard, showin’ off for the girls.
But this Norvell, he seems to have a good head on his shoulders. He knows the game, that’s for sure. Played it himself, back in the day. And he’s been coachin’ for a good while now. He’s seen a thing or two, I reckon. He knows how to handle these young fellas, keep ’em in line, teach ’em a thing or two about the game, and about life, I hope. It’s not just about winnin’ and losin’, you know. It’s about learnin’ how to be a man, how to work hard, how to be part of a team. That’s what I think, anyway.
So, that’s the story of coach Norvell at Colorado State, far as I know. He is a good coach. He’s keepin’ them boys busy, teachin’ them the game. He’s had his ups and downs, like we all do. But he’s still there, still workin’ hard. And that’s somethin’ to admire, ain’t it? He is a good man, I think. That’s all that matters, you know? He is a good man. I hope he keeps doin’ well, that Norvell fella. He’s alright in my book.
