Okay, so I’ve been seeing Conor McGregor’s Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey everywhere, and I finally decided to give it a shot (pun intended!). Here’s how it went down:

The Hunt
First, I went to my usual liquor store. They had, like, a million different whiskeys, but no Proper Twelve. Seriously, what’s up with that? I was a little bummed, but not giving up.
The Second Attempt
Tried a different, bigger store – Total Wine. Bingo! They had it. I grabbed a bottle, feeling pretty good about my successful mission.
The Tasting
Okay, time for the important part. I poured myself a small glass, neat, to really get the full flavor. My first impression? It’s…smooth. Like, surprisingly smooth for something hyped up so much. I was expecting it to be, I don’t know, more aggressive?
- Smell: Kinda sweet, with a little bit of a vanilla thing going on. Not bad at all.
- Taste: Yeah, definitely smooth. I got some honey and maybe some fruit, but it wasn’t overpowering.
- Finish: It went down easy. No crazy burn or anything.
Mixing it Up
Since I’m not always a neat whiskey kind of guy, I decided to make an Old Fashioned. I muddled some sugar and bitters, added a big ice cube, and poured in the Proper Twelve. Stirred it up, added an orange peel…and yeah, it was pretty damn good.
Final Thoughts
Honestly, I was surprised by it. It’s not the most complex whiskey I’ve ever had, but it’s definitely * works well on its own, and it makes a solid cocktail. For the price, I’d say it’s worth a try, especially if you’re a McGregor fan, or just looking for an easy-drinking Irish whiskey. I am gonna buy this again!
