Alright, so you wanna know why that fella, Alex Pereira, keeps yellin’ “chama,” huh? Well, lemme tell ya, it ain’t as fancy as them city folks make it sound. It’s just somethin’ he says, like how I say “yeehaw” when I’m happy, or “golly” when I’m surprised.
Now, them smarty-pants folks with their books and such, they say “chama” means “flame” in some foreign language. Like, you know, fire. But that ain’t what Alex means when he’s shoutin’ it in the ring, or whenever. He ain’t tryin’ to set nobody on fire, that’s for sure.
So, what’s the deal with “chama” then? Well, from what I gather, it’s like when you’re eggin’ someone on. Like, “come on, let’s go!” You know, when you’re gettin’ all riled up and ready to rumble. Or maybe when you’re cheerin’ someone on, like “you got this!” That’s the kinda “chama” Alex is talkin’ about. It’s like his way of sayin’ “bring it on!”
- It ain’t about fire, that’s for sure.
- It’s more like “let’s get goin’!” or “come on!” you know?
- He uses it to get himself and others pumped up.
I heard tell that he even explained it to another fighter fella, Jamal Hill or somethin’. Backstage, you know, where they do all that talkin’ before the fightin’. He told him, “chama” is like, “let’s go,” plain and simple. Not all that fancy, see?
And them fans, they love it! They hear Alex yell “chama,” and they start yellin’ it too. It’s like a big ol’ hollerin’ match, everybody gettin’ all excited. It’s catchin’, you know? Like a yawn, but louder.
Now, some other folks say “chama” also means “call me.” But I don’t think that’s what Alex is gettin’ at. He ain’t tryin’ to get nobody to call him on the phone. He’s tryin’ to get ’em to fight! Or he’s letting them know he’s ready to go.
So, it’s all pretty simple, really. “Chama” is just Alex’s way of sayin’, “Let’s do this!” or “come at me!” It’s his battle cry, his way of gettin’ fired up. And it seems to work for him, that’s for sure. He’s a tough fella, that Alex. I wouldn’t wanna mess with him, “chama” or no “chama.”
It’s like when my old rooster, he used to crow real loud every mornin’. That was his “chama,” I guess. Lettin’ the whole farm know he was awake and ready to go. Same kinda thing with Alex. He’s just lettin’ everyone know he’s there and he’s ready to fight. It gets the people goin’, gets them excited. And heck, that’s what makes a good show, ain’t it?
So, next time you hear Alex Pereira yellin’ “chama,” you’ll know what he means. He ain’t talkin’ about fire, and he ain’t askin’ for a phone call. He’s just sayin’, “Let’s go! I’m ready! Bring it on!” And that’s somethin’ everybody can understand, even an old lady like me.
In short, “chama” for Alex is all about getting hyped and ready to rumble. It’s his thing, and folks seem to like it. It gets the crowd going wild. It seems to work for him too, he is a good fighter from what I hear. That’s all there is to it. Ain’t nothin’ more complicated than that.
And that’s the whole story, as best as I can tell. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go feed my chickens. They’re probably yellin’ their own version of “chama” right about now, meanin’ they’re hungry!
