Well, it looks like ol’ Dijak’s made up his mind and took the leap, leaving WWE. Now, I ain’t no expert, but from what I hear, they didn’t even bother to give him another contract. Yup, that’s right. Come June 27, he told the whole world that his contract was up and they just let him go. Didn’t even reach out to keep him around. That’s gotta hurt, I reckon.
Now, if you’re wonderin’ who this Dijak fella is, let me tell ya a bit. He’s been around WWE for a good stretch, back since 2017 when he first showed up in NXT. Used to go by the name Dominik Dijakovic, but I reckon they decided that sounded too fancy or somethin’ and just called him Dijak. He worked hard, put on some good matches, but for some reason, they never really gave him much of a push. Now, this man ain’t exactly a newbie, he’s been wrestling since the days of ROH. But in WWE, he wasn’t used to his full potential, that’s for sure.
You know, it ain’t easy out there in the big leagues, especially when you ain’t gettin’ the spotlight. WWE had him on the main roster, but they sure didn’t use him much. From what I hear, he didn’t get many chances to show off what he could do on the big stage. All that work, and what does he get? Not much but a pat on the back and a handshake. And to top it all off, they didn’t even offer him a new deal. Kinda makes you wonder, don’t it?
What happened to Dijak?
Well, from what’s been said, WWE didn’t even try to talk to him about a new contract. He was “stonewalled,” they say, and that’s a rough thing to hear if you ask me. He’d been with them for seven years, workin’ hard, but when it came time for a renewal, they just decided they didn’t need him. And he ain’t no young buck, he’s 37 now, so I reckon that didn’t help his case either. You know how it goes in the wrestling world – when you get up there in age, they start lookin’ at ya like you’re past your prime, even if you’re still got plenty to give.
Moving on from WWE
But ol’ Dijak ain’t the type to sit around feelin’ sorry for himself. Nah, he’s already back in the ring, hittin’ the independent scene. He made his first post-WWE appearance at Blitzkrieg Pro, goin’ by the name Donovan Dijak. Now, he ain’t just sittin’ there moping about his time in WWE, he’s out there makin’ a name for himself again, showin’ the world what he can do without all the restrictions.
It ain’t all bad, though. He might not have been a big name on WWE TV, but he had some solid years down in NXT, where he fought hard and earned some respect. Some fans still remember him from those days, and even though WWE didn’t make much of him, there’s plenty of folks out there who think he could’ve done more.
Looking back on WWE days
When Dijak left WWE, he reflected on all those years in the company. He talked about how it felt like they didn’t know what to do with him in the end. He was stuck in a tough spot, workin’ hard but not gettin’ the chances to really shine. But like I said before, he’s not the kind to sit around and complain. He’s out there trying to build his name back up, and that’s somethin’ to admire, if you ask me.
Salary and Contract Details
Now, before we get too far ahead of ourselves, let’s talk a little about the money side of things. From what I’ve heard, Dijak wasn’t makin’ the big bucks like some of the others in WWE. In fact, his yearly salary over at NXT was only about $250,000. Now, I ain’t sayin’ that’s not a lot of money, but in the world of wrestling, that’s pretty low for someone who’s been workin’ with the big company for so long. There’s other guys out there makin’ much more than that, and when you’re not at the top of the card, that’s gotta sting a bit.
WWE 2K and video games
He might not have been the star on TV, but Dijak made his way into video games, too. In 2022, the folks over at WWE 2K put him in the game, under the name Dominik Dijakovic. That’s a nice little bonus, but let’s face it, being in a video game don’t pay the bills like a solid contract does. But hey, at least he’s got some recognition outside the ring, even if it’s just in pixels.
What’s next for Dijak?
So now that he’s free from WWE, what’s next for Donovan Dijak? Well, if I had to guess, I’d say he’s gonna keep doin’ his thing on the indies, maybe make a name for himself in places like AEW, or wherever else folks are lookin’ for talent. The world’s wide open now, and he’s got a lot to offer. Maybe he’ll even take a different approach to his wrestling style and character. One thing’s for sure – he ain’t goin’ away quietly. He’s got the fire, and I think we’re gonna see a lot more from him in the future.
- June 27, Dijak leaves WWE after contract ends
- Worked hard but didn’t get a push on the main roster
- Now making his mark on the independent scene
- WWE 2K added him in 2022, but it wasn’t enough to keep him
- Still has a bright future ahead of him in wrestling
Well, that’s all I got for now. Guess we’ll have to wait and see what happens next with Dijak. You can bet he ain’t done yet.
