Okay, so I wanted to get a list of all the Irish Open winners. Sounds simple, right? Well, it turned out to be a bit of a journey, let me tell you.

The Initial Search
First, I fired up my browser and typed in “Irish Open winners”. I figured there’d be a nice, clean list somewhere. Maybe a Wikipedia page or something. I got a bunch of results, but most of them were about the current Irish Open, news articles, betting sites – you know, the usual stuff.
Digging Deeper
I added “past winners” and “all-time winners” to my search. This helped a little, I started seeing some sites listing winners, but it was often just the last few years, not the whole history.
I did find that Wikipedia has some of the content.
Compiling the Data
So, I decided I’d have to do this the old-fashioned way. I opened up a new spreadsheet. Then, I basically went through a bunch of different websites, one by one, copying and pasting winner names and years.
It was pretty tedious, to be honest. Some sites had partial lists, others had different formats. I had to do a lot of cleaning up – removing extra spaces, making sure the years were formatted correctly, that kind of thing.
The Final Product
But, finally, after a good chunk of time, I had my list! It’s not perfect, I’m sure there might be some minor errors, but it’s a pretty comprehensive list of Irish Open winners, going all the way back. I saved my spreadsheet, and now I can easily look up any winner I want.
It was definitely more work than I expected, but hey, I got there in the end! Sometimes, you just gotta roll up your sleeves and do it yourself, right?
