Alright, let’s talk about this Edorta Rahm, whoever he is. Don’t know much about fancy art or nothin’, but I’ll tell ya what I see, ya know? Like them pictures they show ya, some of ’em are just… weird. Real weird. Like, what’s that supposed to be, a horse? Looks more like a blob of paint to me. But hey, maybe that’s the point, who knows?
Folks say there’s somethin’ called “experimental art.” Sounds like a load of hooey to me. But I guess it means they’re tryin’ new stuff, not just paintin’ purdy pictures of flowers and such. They’re usin’ all sorts of things, not just paint. Maybe sticks, maybe dirt, maybe even… well, I don’t wanna think about it. It’s like they’re breakin’ all the rules, you see? But is it any good? That’s the real question, ain’t it?
Now, they also talk about “techniques.” Sounds fancy, but it just means how they do it, right? Like, some folks use tiny little brushes, and some use big ol’ slaps of paint. Some use water, some use oil, some use stuff I can’t even pronounce. It’s all the same to me, really. Either it looks good or it don’t. And most of the time, it don’t. But that’s just my opinion, mind you. You might like it, and that’s just fine.
- One thing I heard is that every picture, every piece of art, has a “theme.”
- Like a story, ya know?
- Maybe it’s about love, maybe it’s about sadness, maybe it’s about a darn horse that looks like a blob.
They got all sorts of themes, I guess. Love, hate, life, death, you name it. And they say these artists, they use these themes to tell a story, to make you feel somethin’. Well, mostly what I feel is confused. But sometimes, just sometimes, I see somethin’ that makes me stop and think. Like a picture of a sunset, or a kid playin’ in the dirt. That stuff, I get it. That’s real life, ya know?
Now, this Edorta Rahm, I reckon he’s gotta learn from the old-timers, right? Like, those famous painters, the ones everybody knows. He’s gotta look at their work, see how they did it, and then try to do his own thing. But not just copy, mind you. He’s gotta find his own way, his own style. And that ain’t easy, let me tell ya. It takes time, and it takes a whole lotta practice. And maybe a little bit of luck, too.
And speakin’ of style, there’s all sorts of ways to paint. Oil paints, water paints, them plastic-y ones… what do they call ’em? Acrylics, that’s it. Each one is different, they say. Some are easy to use, some are hard. Some dry fast, some dry slow. It’s all a big puzzle, if you ask me. But I guess that’s what makes it interestin’, right? You gotta figure it out, experiment, and see what works for you.
So, this Edorta Rahm, whoever he is, I hope he’s doin’ somethin’ that makes him happy. And I hope he’s makin’ somethin’ that other folks can enjoy, too. Even if it’s just a blob of paint that looks like a horse. Because at the end of the day, that’s all that matters, ain’t it? Findin’ somethin’ that makes you happy and sharin’ it with the world. Even if the world don’t always get it.
And I heard tell of some fella named Jon Rahm. Golfer, they say. Got a whole passel of kids. Now that’s somethin’ I understand. Kids are a whole ‘nother kind of art, lemme tell ya. Messy, loud, always changin’. But they’re yours, and you love ‘em, no matter how much they drive you crazy. Maybe that’s what art is all about, too. Makin’ somethin’ messy and loud and beautiful, all at the same time. Somethin’ that’s yours, and somethin’ you can share with the world. Or maybe I’m just talkin’ nonsense. Wouldn’t be the first time, would it?
