Alright, let’s talk about this Dean Ambrose WWE return thing. It’s been rattling around in my head lately, seeing bits and pieces online, folks speculating. So, I figured, instead of just reading comments, I’d actually sit down and kinda… process it myself. See what shakes out if I really think about it, you know?

First thing I did was fire up the old network. Had to go back. Started with The Shield’s debut. Man, that energy was something else. Remember how chaotic Ambrose was even then? The unpredictable one. Watched a bunch of their early matches, the six-man tags. Pure gold, most of them.
Then I jumped ahead. Focused purely on Ambrose’s solo run after the split. It was a mixed bag, gotta be honest.
- Watched the feud with Seth Rollins. Intense stuff.
- Checked out his time as WWE Champion. Felt a bit weird, like they didn’t fully commit to his character sometimes.
- Dug up some of those promos. The goofy ones, the serious ones. Remember the hot dog cart? Yeah… that happened.
Spent a good chunk of time just watching how he carried himself, how he talked. Compared it to Jon Moxley now in AEW. It’s like night and day, but also… not? You see the bones of Moxley in Ambrose, but Ambrose felt kinda held back, filtered. Moxley feels raw, like the real deal.
Digging into the ‘Why’
I started thinking about why he left WWE in the first place. Creative frustration, right? That seemed to be the main thing everyone talked about. He wanted to do his thing, his way. Watching some of that later WWE stuff, I can kinda see why he might’ve felt stifled. Some of the storylines were just… odd. Didn’t fit him.
So, I’m looking at all this history, the WWE Ambrose, the reasons for leaving, the current AEW Moxley. And the question is, could he go back? It’s tough.
WWE is different now, people say. Triple H is in charge, more creative freedom, maybe. That’s a big maybe, though. Would they let Ambrose be the Moxley version? Or would they want the old Ambrose back? I don’t think he’d want the old Ambrose back, not entirely.
My Takeaway After All That
After spending hours watching the old stuff and thinking it through, here’s where I landed. A return isn’t impossible, I guess. Never say never in wrestling. But man, it feels unlikely right now. He seems to have found his groove, doing what he loves without the constraints he felt before. If he ever did go back, it would have to be on his terms, completely. And I’m not sure WWE is ready for that, or if he’d even want to risk it again.
So yeah, that was my little deep dive. Went in curious, came out feeling like he’s probably staying put for a good while. Was fun revisiting all that Shield and Ambrose history though, definitely brought back some memories.
