Alright, so I wanted to get good at Sin in Guilty Gear Strive, you know? I mean, who doesn’t love a character with a flag as a weapon? But I was getting my butt kicked online. So, I decided I needed to really learn his movelist, inside and out.

First thing I did was fire up the game and head straight into training mode. Gotta start somewhere, right? I picked Sin, obviously, and just stood there for a minute, looking at his command list on the screen.
I started with the basics. You know, his normal attacks. Figured out which ones were good for poking, which ones were good for starting combos, that kind of thing. Just spent some time getting a feel for them, pressing buttons, and seeing what happened.
Then I moved on to his special moves. This is where things got interesting. That Beak Driver, man… Took me a while to get the timing down for that one, with the follow-up and everything. Lots of dropping combos at first, haha!
- Tried to learn the Elk Hunt. It is not easy for me.
- Tried to learn the Hoof Stomp. I can use it sometimes.
- Tried to learn the Still Growing. Great one!
I spent a good chunk of time just practicing those special moves, over and over again. Trying to get the muscle memory down, you know? It’s all about repetition. Kept messing up, kept trying again. That’s the only way to learn, I guess.
Then came the Overdrives. Oh boy, those were tough. Getting the timing right for those inputs, especially in the heat of a match… that’s a whole other level. But I persisted, and eventually, I started landing them more consistently. Still not perfect, but hey, progress!
My Practice Routine
I basically just cycled through everything. Started with normals, moved to specials, then Overdrives. Then I tried to put it all together, practicing some simple combos. Nothing fancy, just enough to get a feel for how everything links together.
After hours of grinding, I felt like I had a pretty good handle on Sin’s movelist. I mean, I wasn’t a pro or anything, but I definitely felt more confident. I even managed to win a few matches online! It was a good feeling, knowing that all that practice had paid off.
It’s not the end though, need to keep learning, all in all, just keep practicing!
