Okay, so today I decided to dive into this whole Dak Prescott versus Jared Goff thing. I’ve been seeing debates about it all over the place, and I figured, why not do my own little comparison?

First, I pulled up their stats from the last few seasons. I mainly used a couple of those big, free sports websites. Easy peasy. I wanted to get a good look at their passing yards, touchdowns, interceptions, completion percentages—you know, all the usual stuff.
Then, I started organizing it all. Nothing fancy, just a simple spreadsheet. One column for Dak, one for Goff, and then rows for each stat. I did this for each year, just to see how they’ve been trending.
Digging into the numbers
- Passing Yards: I looked at how many yards each of them threw per game and per season.
- Touchdowns: Straightforward—who’s getting the ball in the endzone more?
- Interceptions: Also super important. I tracked how many picks they threw, trying to gauge their decision-making.
- Completions Percentage: To check how accurate they are.
Once I had all the numbers laid out, I started looking for patterns. Was one of them consistently throwing for more yards? Was one more prone to interceptions in certain situations? That kind of thing. It took a bit of time, flipping back and forth between the spreadsheet and the sports websites to double-check everything. I’m to check if my numbers right.
Finally, after getting a handle on the numbers, I wanted to see some actual game footage. So, I hopped onto that video site and watched some highlights (and lowlights) of both quarterbacks. This helped me see how those stats played out in real-time. I’m trying to get a feel for their playing styles beyond just the numbers.
It was a pretty fun little project, to be honest. It gave me a much better perspective on the whole Dak vs. Goff debate. Now, I feel like I can actually have an informed opinion when I’m chatting with my buddies about football!
