Man, I gotta tell you about this little adventure I had the other day. I’ve been getting into these NYT crosswords lately, it’s become a bit of a daily ritual for me, you know? So, I’m sitting there, sipping my coffee, and flipping through the clues as usual. I always start with the fill-in-the-blanks. It’s a good way to warm up, and you can usually knock out a few easy ones right off the bat. They’re mostly common knowledge type stuff.
Now, I’ve noticed that these puzzles get harder as the week goes on. Monday’s are usually a breeze, but by the time Saturday rolls around, I’m really scratching my head. Sunday’s puzzle is a whole different beast. It’s a bigger grid, and it usually sits somewhere around a Wednesday or Thursday in terms of difficulty. I read somewhere that some guy spent like 14 days of his life doing these crosswords. That’s wild!
Anyway, I’m going through the clues, and I hit a real stumper. It was from a Friday puzzle, May 17th to be exact. The clue was “Hidden treasures on ‘Survivor’”. I’m thinking, “What could that be?” I mean, I’ve seen the show a few times, but I’m no superfan. I figured it had to be something specific to the game.
I tried a few different things, but nothing was fitting. I spent a good chunk of time on this one clue, and I was starting to get a little frustrated. So, I decided to take a break, and looked up the answer online. Turns out, I wasn’t the only one who was stumped by this one. There were a bunch of forums and websites dedicated to helping people solve these crossword puzzles, all discussing this clue from May 17th and 18th.
It took some digging, but I finally found the answer. You ready for this? It’s “IDOLS”.
IDOLS
- Five little letters.
- Apparently, these hidden immunity idols are a big deal on “Survivor.”
- Who knew, right?
So yeah, that was my little crossword adventure. It’s funny how these little puzzles can be so challenging, yet so satisfying when you finally crack the code. I even found out about all the websites where people gather to share answers and help each other out. It’s like a whole little community built around these crosswords. Pretty cool, huh? I guess I’m officially hooked. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got a crossword to finish!
