Okay, so today I wanted to mess around with something a little different, building out this “Hogan Residence” thing. I had this idea in my head for a while and finally got around to actually trying it out.
First off, I needed to get all my ducks in a row. I gathered up all the materials I thought I’d need – mostly just basic stuff from around the house and a few things I picked up from the store. Nothing fancy, you know? Just wanted to keep it simple and see where things went.
I started by sketching out a rough plan on some scrap paper. Didn’t really measure anything precisely, just eyeballed it mostly. Then I started putting things together. I did do the woodwork part first. That took the longest, honestly.
- Cut the wood
- Sanded it down
- Nailed it all together
Then I figured I’d paint the whole thing a nice, dark brown color. Let that dry overnight – that was a bit of a pain, waiting is not my strong suit.
Next Day
The next day, the paint was all good to go, so I started adding the smaller details like I don’t know the roof, maybe some windows?.
Honestly, it was a bit of a trial and error process. Some things worked out, some things didn’t. I had to redo a couple of parts a few times to get them just right. It is frustrating when you have an image in mind and then it is not really going according to plan.
But hey, that’s how it goes sometimes, right? No biggie, you just gotta roll with the punches. All in all, it took me about a week to get it to a place where I was pretty happy with it. It’s not perfect, but I’m still proud of it. It was a fun little project, and I learned a few things along the way. Might try something like this again in the future, maybe with a different design or something. We’ll see!
