My Afternoon Looking into Roxanne Perez
Okay, so I had some time today and decided, you know what, let’s really take a look at this Roxanne Perez everyone in NXT keeps talking about. Heard the name floating around, seen a few clips maybe, but never really sat down to just watch her stuff properly. It wasn’t like some big research project, more like just wanting to get my own feel for what she’s about.

So, first thing I did was pull up some of her matches from the last year or so. Wanted to see the progression, if any. I started with some of her earlier NXT appearances, back when she was all smiles and full of that ‘happy to be here’ energy. She’s definitely got talent, quick in the ring, you can see that right away. Very technically sound for someone relatively new on that big stage.
Then I moved onto her more recent stuff, especially after that heel turn I’d heard about. Watched the match where she won the title again, and yeah, big difference. It wasn’t just the look, but the whole attitude. That’s what I spent most time looking at. How did the character change actually play out in the ring and on the mic?
- In-Ring Aggression: Definitely noticed she got more vicious. Less flashy, more focused on just hurting her opponent. It felt more deliberate, less about wowing the crowd.
- Facial Expressions/Body Language: This was a big one. The smiles were gone, replaced by this intense stare. She carried herself differently, more confidently but also with a kind of edge.
- Pacing of Matches: Seemed like she controlled the pace more now, slowing it down when she wanted, really grinding down her opponents. Less of the frantic energy from before.
- Selling: Still good at making things look painful, but even her reactions seemed different. Less ‘oh poor me’ and more ‘you’ll pay for that’.
I wasn’t trying to break down move sets like some kinda pro analyst, not my thing. I was just watching, observing how the performer shifted gears. It’s interesting seeing that development, you know? Going from the plucky underdog everyone loves to someone more complex, maybe a bit darker. Took some rough notes, just jotting down impressions as I watched.
After a couple of hours, I felt like I had a much better handle on it. You see the story they’re trying to tell with her. It’s a classic wrestling arc in some ways, but she pulls off the change pretty well. It made me think about how performers have to adapt and evolve, especially in wrestling where character is just as important as the physical stuff. It was a good practice session, just focusing on one person’s journey and seeing the pieces click together. Didn’t discover anything groundbreaking, but definitely satisfied my curiosity and gave me something to chew on. Just a simple observation exercise, really.
