Okay, let’s talk about Adonai Mitchell and what I’m thinking for dynasty leagues. I’ve been spending a good bit of time lately digging into these rookie wideouts, trying to figure out where the value is. Mitchell’s name kept popping up, so I decided to really dive in.

First thing I did was pull up his college tape from Texas. You gotta see what they actually do on the field, right? Watched a few games. What stands out immediately is the smoothness and the speed. He looks the part, big frame, glides pretty well. Saw some really impressive catches, especially downfield. He can definitely go up and get it.
But, gotta be honest, there were stretches where I felt like he wasn’t super involved or maybe wasn’t giving it 100% on every single route. Maybe that’s just the Texas offense, maybe it’s inconsistency, hard to say just from tape sometimes. Saw a few drops too, concentration stuff maybe. Still, the flashes were bright.
Then I checked out his combine results. Dude absolutely blew it up. That 4.34 forty time at his size? That gets your attention fast. It confirmed the speed I thought I saw on tape. Athletic testing isn’t everything, but when a guy with his frame moves like that, you take notice. It definitely bumped him up my mental board a bit.
Next step was seeing where he landed in the NFL draft. Indianapolis Colts. Okay, interesting spot.
- They got Anthony Richardson at quarterback, who has a cannon for an arm. That fits Mitchell’s potential downfield ability.
- Michael Pittman Jr. is there, he’s the clear number one receiver, commands a lot of targets.
- Josh Downs looked pretty good in the slot last year too.
So, the situation isn’t wide open. He’s not walking in as the top dog. That made me pause and think about his immediate opportunity. How many targets can he realistically earn year one?
Figuring Out the Dynasty Value
Putting it all together… the physical tools are awesome. Size, speed, big-play potential, it’s all there. That’s the stuff you really want for dynasty upside. He could be a serious red-zone threat and deep threat with Richardson throwing him the ball eventually.
The concerns? Well, the potential inconsistency I saw on tape, the target competition in Indy right away. Is he polished enough as a route runner yet to earn targets consistently over Pittman or even Downs early on? That’s the question mark for me. We need to see if that college production, which wasn’t exactly elite, translates quickly.

So, for my own dynasty leagues, here’s how I approached it. I see him as a high-upside player, but maybe not an instant impact guy. He feels like more of a bet on traits and potential development. In rookie drafts, I wasn’t willing to grab him super early in the first round, felt like there were safer bets or guys with clearer paths to targets. But once we got to the back half of the first round, or maybe slipping into the early second? Yeah, the potential reward starts to look pretty tempting there. The ceiling is a legit starting fantasy receiver.
I ended up grabbing him in one league where he fell a bit further than I expected. Felt like good value at that point. In other leagues, the price was a bit too high for my liking compared to who else was available. It’s all about weighing that risk versus reward based on where you’re picking and your team’s needs.
That’s basically my process and where I landed on Adonai Mitchell. Exciting player, great athlete, decent landing spot with a QB who can push it deep. Just gotta be a little patient maybe and hope he puts it all together. Definitely one to watch closely this season.
