Okay, here’s my take on diving in MLB The Show 23, written from a personal experience perspective, keeping it casual and focusing on the practical steps:

Alright, so I finally decided to get good at diving catches in The Show 23. I’d seen some sick plays online, and I was tired of just letting those bloop hits drop in. I wanted to be that guy making the highlight reel.
First, I hopped into Practice Mode. No pressure, just me, the batter, and a whole lot of virtual grass. I started with simple fly balls, nothing too crazy. The key, I quickly realized, was all about the timing of the button press.
It is the R2,I press the R2 button (that’s the default, anyway) just as my fielder is about to reach the ball’s landing spot. Too early, and he just kinda stumbles. Too late, and well, you’ve seen those awkward missed dives.
- Early attempts? Mostly embarrassing. Lots of face-planting.
- Midway through? Starting to get the hang of it. Snagged a few liners that I definitely would have missed before.
- Feeling cocky? Tried a few diving stabs at balls way out of my range. Result: more face-planting.
Getting the Positioning Right
Next up, I realized positioning was huge. You can’t just run in any direction and expect to make the catch. The game wants you to be somewhat realistic. I started focusing on getting a good jump on the ball – anticipating where it was going to land before it even got there.
I started playing some actual games against the CPU, set to a lower difficulty. This gave me a chance to try out my new skills in a “real” game situation, but without the pressure of online competition.I did some practice with many heros and many positions.
Finally, Feeling pretty good, I took the plunge and went online. My first few attempts were…mixed. I made a couple of amazing diving catches, and I also whiffed on some easy ones. But hey, that’s part of the learning curve, right?
So, that’s my journey so far. Still a work in progress, but I’m definitely diving more confidently now. It just takes practice, patience, and a willingness to look silly sometimes. But when you finally snag that impossible catch? Totally worth it.
