Alright, let’s talk about figuring out Jason in MultiVersus. When he dropped, I was pretty hyped, you know? Big horror fan. So I jumped right in, eager to start slicing and dicing.

First few matches? Rough. Really rough. I felt slow, clunky, and just couldn’t seem to get my hits to connect right. People were just dancing around me. I knew I had to mess with the perks, ’cause the default setup wasn’t cutting it for me.
Trying Stuff Out
So, I started experimenting. Threw on some perks that seemed obvious, like maybe boosting damage or something. Didn’t feel much different. I was still getting juggled and couldn’t secure knockouts.
- Speed Force Assist: Tried this first. Thought maybe making him faster would help. Nah, didn’t feel impactful enough. Still felt kinda sluggish overall.
- Damage Boost Perks: Slapped on stuff like ‘Snowball Effect’ or ‘Lumpy Space Punch’. Yeah, hits did a bit more, but if you can’t land hits consistently, what’s the point? Wasn’t solving the core issue.
- Defensive Perks: Then I thought, okay, maybe I just need to live longer. Tried ‘Tasmanian Trigonometry’ for more base knockback influence. Helped a tiny bit with survival, but didn’t make me win fights.
I spent a good evening just swapping things around, match after match. Got pretty frustrated, almost dropped the character entirely. It felt like nothing was clicking, you know? Like I was missing something obvious.
Finding What Works (For Me)
Then I started focusing on his strengths. He’s got that grey health mechanic, the armor moves. Maybe I needed to lean into that. Make him tankier, more relentless.
Here’s what I finally landed on after a lot of trial and error:
- Signature Perk: Unstoppable Force. This felt almost mandatory. Getting that armor on more moves makes a huge difference. Lets you push through projectile spam and trade hits better. Suddenly I wasn’t getting poked out so easily.
- Perk 1: That’s Flammable, Doc! This one started making sense. Since Jason can apply ignite, why not make it spread? Adds a little extra pressure and damage over time, helps control space.
- Perk 2: Retaliation-Ready. This was a big one. Getting grey health after getting knocked back? Yes please. Really helps with survivability, synergizes with his whole ‘unkillable slasher’ vibe. Lets you stay in the fight longer.
- Perk 3: Wildcat Brawler (on the ground) or Leg Day Champ (in the air). This slot I swap sometimes. If I’m fighting ground-heavy characters, Wildcat helps trade blows. If they’re aerial pests, Leg Day helps with my own jumps and air game, which frankly isn’t Jason’s best area, so anything helps. Usually stick with Wildcat though.
How It Feels Now
Playing Jason with this setup feels way better. I’m not suddenly winning every match, don’t get me wrong. But I feel like I actually have a game plan now. I can absorb some hits with armor, apply pressure with ignite, and the grey health gives me more breathing room.
It turns Jason into more of a relentless bruiser. You walk forward, you take hits, you dish them back out. It feels more like playing Jason should, less like playing a generic slow dude. You can be more aggressive, force trades that work in your favor because you can often outlast them with the grey health or armor through their attack.
It’s still a work in progress, always tweaking little things depending on matchups. But yeah, this Unstoppable Force build focused on tankiness and trading hits? That’s what finally made Jason click for me. Took a while, but got there eventually.
