Okay, so, a few days ago, I got this idea to try and learn how to play bridge. I’ve always heard about it, you know, it’s that card game that older folks seem to really enjoy. I thought, “Why not give it a shot?”
So, I started by looking up some stuff online. I found out that you can actually start playing after just five lessons! Can you believe it? Just five! I mean, that’s pretty quick, right? I also found out that some websites give free lessons, and they said the lessons were taught by some of the best bridge teachers in the world. That sounded pretty good to me, so I decided to give these free lessons a try.
I learned about something called “MiniBridge”, which is like a simplified version of bridge. It lets you start playing without knowing all the complicated bidding rules. Apparently, everything you learn in MiniBridge is still useful for real bridge, like counting points. I figured that was a good place to start, so I played a few rounds of MiniBridge. It was actually pretty fun!
Then I came across this thing called “Bridge Whiz”. It’s free online lessons, but for kids. They said you can practice on something called “Shark Bridge”. I thought, “Hey, if it’s good enough for kids, it’s good enough for me!” So, I checked it out. It was a bit basic, but it helped me get a better feel for the game.
- I started with some basic online lessons.
- Then I tried MiniBridge to get a feel for the game without all the complicated rules.
- After that, I checked out Bridge Whiz, which is meant for kids, but it was still helpful.
Finally, I decided to sign up for a real course. This course promised to teach me the essential rules of bridge, like the structure of the deck and how a typical game flows. I’m still in the middle of it, but I’m already feeling more confident about my bridge skills.
My Bridge Learning Experience So Far
It’s been a fun journey so far. I started with some simple online resources, then moved on to MiniBridge and even some lessons designed for kids. Now, I’m taking a more formal course, and I’m actually starting to get the hang of it. I guess you really can learn bridge in just a few lessons! It’s not as scary as I thought it would be. Bridge is a fun game, but learning to play it requires quite a bit of effort and time investment. I guess I might stick with it, let’s see what happens.
