Alright, let’s talk about this… uh… “Kingpyn Boxing,” is that what they call it? Sounds fancy, but it’s just folks punchin’ each other, far as I can tell. Not like the real boxin’ I used to see on that old black and white TV, no sir. This is somethin’ different.
What is this Kingpyn thing anyway?
Well, from what I gather, it ain’t about no championships or belts or nothin’ like that. It’s more like… a show, you know? They get these internet fellas, these “influencers” they call ’em, and have ’em duke it out. YouTubers, TikTokers… Lord, I don’t even know what half them words mean. But these young’uns, they watch ’em, I guess.
They say it ain’t for profit, but don’t you believe it. There’s money in everything these days. Remember that time they had that old fella, Tyson, fightin’ that Paul boy? Said it was an “exhibition,” but you know folks paid good money to see it. Same thing here, I reckon.
- They got all sorts fightin’. Big fellas, little fellas, even some gals gettin’ in on it.
- Heard about that one girl, Hemsley, somethin’ like that. Caused quite a stir, she did. Guess that’s how they get folks to watch, doin’ somethin’ crazy.
Now, they say this Kingpyn thing is havin’ trouble with money. “Financial turmoil,” they called it. Well, I ain’t surprised. Spendin’ all that money on fancy lights and gettin’ all them internet folks, it adds up, you know? Back in my day, you just needed two fellas, a pair of gloves, and a patch of dirt.
Why do folks watch it?
That’s the million-dollar question, ain’t it? I guess folks like seein’ a spectacle. They like seein’ these internet stars gettin’ punched in the face, maybe. Or maybe they just like the drama, the build-up. It’s like a soap opera, but with more fists.
And they got these big fights, these “main events.” Like that one with that KSI fella fightin’ Tommy Fury. Folks get all worked up about it, talkin’ about it for weeks. It’s somethin’ to do, I suppose.
Is it real boxing?
Well, they’re punchin’ each other, ain’t they? But it ain’t the same as the boxin’ I remember. These fellas, they ain’t been trainin’ their whole lives. They’re learnin’ on the job, so to speak. It’s more about entertainment than skill, I reckon. But hey, if folks enjoy it, who am I to judge? It’s their money and their time. They could be doing worse things, I figure. At least they are not out causing trouble.
What’s next?
Who knows? These young folks are always comin’ up with somethin’ new. Maybe they’ll start havin’ eatin’ contests or somethin’. Or maybe they will do dancing shows. I don’t know. But as long as folks are watchin’, they’ll keep doin’ it, I betcha. Money talks, you know? And these Kingpyn folks, they seem to know how to get folks to open their wallets.
So, that’s my take on this whole Kingpyn boxing thing. It ain’t my cup of tea, but it ain’t hurtin’ nobody, I guess. Just a bunch of folks punchin’ each other for fun and money. The world’s a strange place, ain’t it? But at least it gives folks somethin’ to talk about, I guess.
