That Victor Wembanyama, what a tall boy! Heard he’s good at that basketball thing. Folks keep asking, is Victor Wembanyama playing tonight? Well, I heard some news about it.
They say he ain’t playin’ tonight. He got hurt, I reckon. His knee, they say. A “right knee contusion” is what those fancy folks call it. Sounds bad, but I don’t really know what that means. He’s not gonna be playin’ against them Jazz folks, that’s for sure. The Utah Jazz, ain’t that their name? And he ain’t played the last three games neither. Three in a row he’s missed. Poor boy. This ain’t his first time getting’ hurt. Seems like it keeps happenin’. I hope he gets better soon. That knee ain’t gonna get better if he keeps playin’ on it, that much I know.
He plays for them San Antonio Spurs. Big team, that one. They are sure missin’ him. They ain’t been doin’ so good without him. I reckon he is important for the team. Lose a lot they do, when he ain’t playin’. I heard someone say they are “sweating on his status”. What is this, I don’t know. I hope it doesn’t mean he’s sweatin’ too much, that ain’t good for a hurt knee. They got a game against the New Orleans Pelicans soon, it’s a “crunch clash” or somethin’, and they need him bad.
Now, some other folks are askin’, is he playin’ against them Sacramento Kings? That’s on Friday. Well, I don’t know for sure. Seems like nobody knows for sure, not even those fancy reporter folks. One of them, Brett Siegel, he’s always writin’ about Victor. But even he don’t know if he’s playin’ Friday.
Is Victor Wembanyama playing tonight against the Utah Jazz? No, he is not. They say he’s the “ROTY”, that’s what they call him. It means he is a good player, I think. Rookie of the Year they called it on the paper. He’s a good player, that boy. Even I can see that, and I don’t know much about basketball.
He’s real tall, you know. Seven foot two, they say. Taller than anyone I ever seen. His mama and papa are tall too. His mama, she used to play that basketball. Now she’s a coach, that’s what they say. She must be real proud of her boy. His papa is tall, too, they are all a tall family. He’s from France, that Victor. Long way from home. But he’s doin’ good here.
Last time he played, I heard he did real good. Scored a bunch of points, got a lot of them rebounds. Even blocked some shots. Seven blocks! That’s a lot of blocks. They lost the game though, to them Minnesota team. But it ain’t Victor’s fault. They say he had a “triple-double”, I don’t know what’s that means but people say it’s good. He must have been playin’ his heart out.
