Okay, let’s talk about this Afterglow Coral thing in Wuthering Waves. I’ve been playing a fair bit, you know, doing the dailies, exploring around, and naturally, pulling on those banners.

My First Encounter with Coral
So, I started pulling, trying to get that new character everyone was talking about. Spent quite a few Astrite I’d saved up. Didn’t get the main banner character right away, obviously. Instead, I started getting duplicates of characters I already had. First time, okay, it happens. Second time, a bit annoying. Then I started getting duplicate weapons too, mostly 4-star ones.
After a pulling session where I got another duplicate of a 4-star character, I noticed this other currency popping up. It was called Afterglow Coral. Didn’t pay much attention at first, just kept pulling.
Figuring Out What To Do With It
Eventually, I had a decent pile of this coral. I was looking through the menus, trying to see where everything was, and stumbled upon the store. There’s a section specifically for exchanging stuff, and boom, there was the Afterglow Coral tab. Finally figured out where it went!
Inside, there were options. You could trade the coral for:
- Wavebands for specific characters (those constellation things, basically).
- Those standard banner pulls (the Lustrous Tides).
- Some other materials, I think? Mostly focused on the first two.
Making the Trade
I looked at my characters. Getting a Waveband for one of my main damage dealers was tempting. It gives a nice power boost, right? But then I looked at the cost. Seemed pretty high for just one level.
Then I saw the Lustrous Tides. Standard pulls. Yeah, it’s the standard banner, less chance for the limited shiny stuff. But you can still get 5-star characters or weapons from it. It felt like getting another chance at the gacha, using the leftovers from previous attempts.
So, I decided to go for the Lustrous Tides. I calculated how many I could get with the coral I had. It wasn’t a huge amount, maybe five or six pulls?
I went ahead and made the exchange. Clicked confirm, saw the coral amount go down, and the tide count go up. Felt kind of okay, like recycling my bad luck.

Using the Tides
Immediately went to the standard banner section. Used those five or six tides I just bought. Got the usual mix of 3-star weapons, maybe one 4-star character I already had maxed out… pretty standard stuff. No surprise 5-star, unfortunately.
Was it worth it? Hard to say definitively. Didn’t get anything amazing from those specific pulls. But, using the coral felt better than just letting it sit there. It’s like a small rebate on your pulls, especially when you get those duplicates. I guess my thinking was, more pulls mean I inch closer to the pity counter on the standard banner anyway. Maybe next time I’ll save up for a specific character Waveband if I really need it, but for now, turning the coral back into more pulls felt like the way to go for me. It keeps the gacha hope alive, even if it’s just a little bit.
