Okay, guys, so I’ve been messing around with some putters lately, you know, trying to find that magic wand that’ll make all my putts drop. And I stumbled upon these two from Odyssey: the Jailbird and the Jailbird Mini. I got my hands on both of these bad boys and here is what happened.
First off, I grabbed the Jailbird Mini. It’s the smaller one of the two, feels kinda light in your hands. The head is not too big, not too small, just right for me. I took it to the practice green, started rolling some putts. The first thing I noticed is this double bend shaft. It’s supposed to help with alignment, and I gotta say, it does feel pretty intuitive. I like that it is easier to aim, or at least it is easier for me to aim.
The Jailbird Mini
- Smaller head
- Lighter feel
- Double bend shaft
- Versa alignment
Then, I switched to the regular Jailbird. Now, this one’s got some heft to it. Feels solid, stable, like it’s not gonna twist on you, even if you have a shaky hand like me. I rolled some putts with this one, and I found it to be more stable. It’s like the putter does half the work for you, just keeps everything steady. But it was a bit too heavy for my liking.
The Jailbird
- Larger head
- Heavier feel
- More stable
After a while, I went back to the Mini. I don’t know, there’s just something about it. Maybe it’s the size, maybe it’s the alignment, but it just felt more comfortable for me. I tried some different grips, different stances, just to see how it would react. And it just felt good, you know? Like I could actually make some putts with this thing.
My two cents?
Honestly, it comes down to what feels right for you. I ended up preferring the Jailbird Mini. It’s lighter, easier to aim, and it just suits my stroke better. But I can totally see why some people, especially the pros, like the regular Jailbird. It’s got that stability, that weight that some folks like. Also, I did a little research and found out that some big names like Rickie Fowler and Wyndham Clark have been using the Jailbird. Must be something to it, right? Anyway, I figured I’d share my little experiment with you guys. Maybe it’ll help you find your next putter. Happy putting, folks!
