Hey everyone, it’s been a while, but I’ve been digging into something pretty interesting lately and thought I’d share my little journey with you all. It’s about this guy, Josh Schertz. Yeah, the basketball coach. I’ve been following his career moves and, man, it’s been a ride!

I saw he kicked off his coaching career way back in the 1999-2000 season as a student assistant with Florida Atlantic. I thought, “Okay, humble beginnings, everyone starts somewhere.”

Then I got into the nitty-gritty of his coaching history. I made a simple list to keep track of his journey:
- 2008-2009 at Lincoln Memorial: Started with a 14-14 record. Not bad, not great.
- 2009-2010 at Lincoln Memorial: Things got better, 20-9. Improvement!
- 2010-2011 at Lincoln Memorial: Now we’re talking, 27-3. This is where he started turning heads.
- 2011-2012 at Lincoln Memorial: Kept up the good work, 26-6. Solid.
I wrote down these milestones, just to see the progression. And boy, did he progress!
The Big Move to Saint Louis University
Here’s where it got really interesting for me. On April 6th, big news dropped – Saint Louis University (SLU) announced Josh Schertz as their new head coach for the men’s basketball program. I remember thinking, “Wow, that’s a major step up!” He came over from Indiana State, where he just wrapped up his third season, leading them to a 32-7 record. They even made it to the NIT championship game. Talk about a magical run!
What Makes Him Special?
I kept seeing words like ‘genius,’ ‘savant,’ and ‘guru’ thrown around when people talked about his offensive strategies. I was like, “Okay, there’s more to this guy than just stats.” He’s considered an offensive mastermind, someone who really knows how to get his team to score. After all this digging, I sat back and thought about what I had learned.
