Okay, so I’ve been seeing this arm band thingy on some pro golfers lately, especially on Justin Thomas. Dude’s a beast on the course, by the way. And I thought, “What’s that all about?” So I did what any curious person would do – I went down the rabbit hole of the internet to find out.
Turns out, it’s called a WHOOP band. And it’s not just Justin Thomas rocking it. I saw pictures of Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, and even Billy Horschel sporting these bands too. Even commentators like Nick Dougherty and Paul McGinley have sung the praises of WHOOP. Apparently, it’s like a fitness tracker but way more intense.
So, being the easily influenced guy that I am, I decided to try one out myself. I mean, if it’s good enough for major champions like Rory and Justin, it’s gotta be worth a shot, right?
First thing’s first, I got myself a WHOOP band, the bicep version. It’s made of this stretchy fabric that feels pretty comfy, even when I’m sweating buckets. I put that thing on and basically forgot it was there. I was living my life, working, hitting the gym, even just laying around the house, and that band was my constant companion. It is supposed to track everything, so I made it a part of my life.

Wear it everywhere: After I got the band, the first thing I did was to strap it on. Not on my wrist like a regular watch, but on my bicep. It felt a little weird at first, like a gentle hug, but I got used to it pretty quickly. I wore it all the time, 24/7, no exceptions. During workouts, at work, even while sleeping.

Sync with the app: This band is ‘smart’. It connects to an app on my phone through Bluetooth. Every now and then, I opened the app to sync the data. It was pretty cool to see all these numbers and graphs popping up, supposedly representing my body’s activity.

Observe the data: The app showed me things like my heart rate, sleep patterns, and something called ‘strain’ and ‘recovery’. I didn’t really know what to do with all this info at first, but I figured I’d just keep an eye on it and see what happens.
So, did it turn me into a golf pro overnight? Nope, not even close. But I did start paying more attention to how much I was pushing myself and how well I was recovering. It was kind of like having a little coach on my arm, always reminding me to listen to my body. I wore it for 3 months and started to see some changes.
Would I recommend it? Yeah, I think so. Especially if you’re into fitness or just curious about how your body works. It’s like a little window into your own personal performance data. Plus, if it’s good enough for Justin Thomas, it’s definitely worth checking out, right?
