Well, well, well, looky here, you wanna know about that SMU head coach, huh? That Rhett Lashlee fella. He’s the big cheese over at that Southern Methodist University, you know, the Mustangs. That football team. He’s been there a while now, I reckon. It is since, like, 2021 or somethin’.
He’s the head honcho, the top dog. He calls the shots, you see. He makes the plays, picks the players, yells at ’em when they mess up. That’s what them coaches do. And that SMU, they got a bunch of sports, but we just talking football here.
This Rhett fella, he ain’t new to this, no sir. He’s been around the block, that one. He used to work there at SMU before, back in, uh, 2018 and 2019, I think it was. Then he went somewhere else, did some other coachin’, and now he’s back. They call him the “offensive coordinator” before. Fancy words for sayin’ he’s good with the offense, the guys who score the points. He must be doing somethin’ right, they keep him around.
They say he’s got a good record, that Rhett. Lots of wins, not many losses. They say he’s won, like, 27 games and only lost 10 or somethin’ like that, since he’s been at SMU. That’s a lot of wins, that is. That’s how you keep your job, winnin’ games. That’s the name of the game, ain’t it?
Now last year, oh boy, they had a good year. That Rhett, he took ’em to some big game, some kinda championship, I reckon. They say it was the first time they won that thing since, get this, 1984! That’s a long time ago! Longer than some of you young folks been alive! And now, folks say SMU head coach is goin’ to the College Football Playoff! They got the number 11 seed, whatever that means. They goin’ to someplace called State College. I don’t know where that is, but it sounds important.
- That Rhett, he’s got a family too.
- A wife named Lauren, I hear.
- And kids. Lots of ’em. Hudson, Thomas, Rowyn, Scarlet.
- They all excited to be Mustangs. That’s what they call themselves, the Mustangs.
That SMU team, they were on fire last year, I tell ya. They only lost one game all season, to some team called BYU. Some folks say they have been on a tear. I guess that means they are doing good. They call that Rhett Lashlee a good coach, they do. He knows his stuff, that’s what they say. He knows how to win. It seems that they won 18 out of 20 games. That is a lot! And 17 out of 18 in their regular season. Whatever that means. I don’t follow sports that much.
It says here that Rhett was born in 1983. That makes him… well, you do the math. He ain’t a spring chicken, but he ain’t old either. He’s just right for coachin’, I reckon. It seems that SMU and that Rhett fella made a deal to extend his contract. Good for him! He must be real happy about that.
So, there you have it. That’s what I know about that SMU head coach, that Rhett Lashlee. He’s the big cheese over there at Southern Methodist University. He’s a winner, that’s for sure. And he seems like a nice fella, with a wife and kids and all. He’s doin’ alright for himself, that Rhett. He’s makin’ a name for himself in that football world. And he’s makin’ that SMU team proud, too. Yep, he is doing well. He is doing well for sure.
The Mustangs! Yeah, that is what they call ’em. Mustangs. And that Rhett, well, that SMU head coach, he is the one leading the herd. He is the leader of the pack! And they are sure doing good. I am telling ya. That is all I know about that.
