Okay, let’s talk about making those little white shiny things, Orbs of Power, in Destiny 2. I remember when I first started really trying to get my abilities back quicker and noticed folks talking about these orbs. Took me a bit to figure out the reliable ways.

Getting Started: The Old Reliable Gun Method
First thing I zeroed in on was my guns. I kept hearing about Masterworked weapons. So, I focused on getting one of my favorite auto rifles fully upgraded – you know, getting that fancy gold border around it. It took some materials, farming cores and stuff, but I finally got it done.
And what do you know? As soon as I did that, I started seeing Orbs of Power pop out whenever I quickly took down two or more enemies with that gun. Those multikills were key. It wasn’t raining orbs, but it was a start, and I definitely noticed my Super charging a bit faster when I picked them up. So, rule one for me became: get your favorite add-clearing weapon Masterworked.
Leveling Up: Using Armor Mods
Then, things got way better when I started digging into armor mods. This is where the real orb generation comes from these days, I found. I looked at my helmet mods specifically.
I saw these mods called Siphon mods. Stuff like:
- Harmonic Siphon (makes orbs on rapid kills if your weapon matches your subclass type)
- Kinetic Siphon (makes orbs on rapid kills with kinetic weapons)
- Solar/Void/Arc/Stasis Siphon (for kills with weapons of that specific element)
So, I started slotting these into my helmet. If I was running my Solar subclass, I’d pop on Harmonic Siphon, or if I was using a specific Solar energy weapon a lot, I’d use Solar Siphon. The cost for these mods isn’t too bad, usually takes up 1 to 3 energy on the helmet. Suddenly, rapid kills with the right weapon type started dropping orbs much more consistently, not just the bigger multikills needed for the Masterwork itself.
This felt like the main way to do it now. Just matching a Siphon mod on your helmet to the weapon you’re using most often for taking out weaker enemies. That really cranked up the orb production for me and my fireteam.
Other Ways I Noticed
Of course, I also saw that just using your Super ability often generates orbs for your teammates. Especially the big damage or roaming Supers when you take down enemies with them. That’s more passive, happens naturally as you play.
Some exotic armor pieces also mention generating orbs or doing stuff with them, but honestly, for just making them reliably, I found focusing on Masterworked guns and, more importantly, the right Siphon mods on my helmet was the easiest and most consistent thing I could actively control.

My Routine Now
So now, whenever I make a build, step one is always getting my main weapon Masterworked. Step two, and this is crucial, is equipping the right Siphon mod on my helmet to match either that weapon or my subclass element. That combo keeps the orbs flowing pretty well during most activities, helping me and my pals get our abilities back faster. It’s pretty straightforward once you get the hang of it.
