Today, I was browsing the news and saw something about Blake Snell winning the Cy Young Award. I was like, “Who’s that?” So, I did a little digging.
First, I found out that this guy, Blake Snell, actually won the Cy Young Award twice! Once in the American League and now in the National League. That’s pretty cool, right?
- Looked up who Blake Snell is. Turns out, he’s a pitcher for the San Diego Padres.
- Checked out the news about him winning the Cy Young Award. It’s a big deal in baseball, given to the best pitchers.
- Dug a bit deeper and found out he’s won it twice now. Impressive!
Here’s what I did:
Then, I stumbled upon some interesting tidbits. Did you know that at just 20 years old, Dwight Gooden was the youngest ever to win the Cy Young Award? There’s even a show about it called ‘Doc & Darryl’ on ESPN+. I might check that out later.
Also, I learned that Snell is the all-time career leader in strikeouts per 9 innings (for pitchers with at least 1000 innings). That’s a lot of strikeouts!
Lastly, I read that the Padres didn’t give Snell the offer he wanted, so he might be leaving the team. But this season, they’re aiming for the World Series.
That’s all I found out today. It’s always fun to learn about new people and their achievements, even if it’s not something I usually follow.
