Okay, so I’ve been digging into this whole “MS State Uniforms” thing, and let me tell you, it’s been a bit of a rabbit hole. I wanted to figure out, like, what the deal was with all the different options, you know? Sports, everyday wear, special events – the whole nine yards.

First, I started poking around the university’s official website. You’d think they’d have a clear, simple page laying it all out, right? Nope! Had to jump through a few hoops, clicking here and there, but eventually, I started to find some bits and pieces.
The Sports Gear
Obviously, athletics are a HUGE part of Mississippi State. So, I started there. Maroon and white, those are the main colors, no surprise. The football uniforms, those are pretty iconic. I looked at the different combinations they use – sometimes all maroon, sometimes maroon jerseys with white pants, and that classic white helmet with the “M” logo.
- Football: Mostly maroon and white. Different combos for different games.
- Basketball: Similar color scheme, but different styles of jerseys and shorts.
- Baseball: They have some pretty cool pinstripe options, too! Classic look.
For other sports, it was a bit of a mix. I saw some variations in the shades of maroon, and some sports incorporated a little bit of gray or black into their designs. It wasn’t super consistent, which was kind of interesting.
The Everyday Stuff
Next, I tried to find out what students wear, like, just to class and stuff. I figured there’s gotta be a general “uniform” of sorts, even if it’s not officially enforced. I checked out some student forums and social media, that’s where you see the real deal.
It seemed like a lot of students rock the university-branded apparel – t-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts. Lots of maroon, naturally. Comfort seemed to be key, which makes sense, walking around campus all day. Jeans, shorts, sneakers…pretty standard college attire.
I tried to sort them into these catagories:
- T-shirts with the university logo.
- Hoodies (big surprise in cooler weather).
- Jeans or shorts, depending on the season.
- Sneakers or comfortable walking shoes.
Special Occasions
Then I got to thinking about special events, like graduation or formal university functions. What do people wear then?
For graduation, it’s the classic cap and gown. I saw some pictures of students with custom-decorated mortarboards, which was pretty cool. Underneath the gown, it looked like people wore anything from semi-formal dresses to dress pants and shirts. No strict rules, just “look presentable,” I guess.

As for other formal events, I couldn’t find a ton of concrete info. I’m guessing it’s the usual “dressy” attire – suits, dresses, that kind of thing. Nothing too crazy, I’d imagine.
So, that’s my deep dive into MS State uniforms! It’s a wider range than I initially thought, from the super-specific athletic gear to the more casual everyday wear. It was fun exploring all the different aspects of it, and it felt good to pull all of my findings together.
