Now, I know a lotta folks been talkin’ about Najee Harris and Franco Harris, especially since that young fella Najee started playin’ for the Steelers. Some folks been wonderin’, “Are they related?” Well, lemme tell ya, they ain’t. They got the same last name, sure, but that don’t mean they’re kin. It’s just a coincidence, like two fellas in the same town with the same first name—ain’t no blood ties there.
Franco Harris, now, he was a big deal back in the ’70s and ’80s. Played for the Steelers, got himself in the Hall of Fame, and did a whole lotta good for that team. He was a real legend, that one. Had his own fanbase, too. The folks who followed him, they called themselves “Franco’s Italian Army,” ’cause Franco’s mom was Italian, and his dad was Black. He was proud of his roots, and the fans loved him for it.
Now, Najee Harris, he’s the young buck in the picture. He’s a current player for the Steelers, and let me tell ya, he’s got the skills, too. Fast feet, hard hits, and he’s been makin’ waves on the field since he joined the team. But like I said, just ’cause they share the same last name, don’t mean they’re family. Najee’s folks, they from a whole different branch of the Harris family tree. His mama and daddy are his biggest supporters, and he’s got a bunch of siblings who are close-knit. His brothers Malachi, Curtis Jr., and Fela, along with his sister Jahmila, they all been raisin’ him up right, and they stick together like glue.
So, don’t go thinkin’ there’s some big family connection just ‘cause they both played for the Steelers. Franco did his thing years ago, and now Najee’s out there showin’ the younger generation how it’s done. Both of ’em are stars, sure, but that’s where the similarities end.
Franco’s legacy is big in Pittsburgh, especially with the fans who still remember him from the glory days of the ’70s. And now, Najee’s makin’ his own mark on the team. They both brought a lotta pride to Pittsburgh, but they didn’t share the same blood. That’s the long and short of it, folks. Ain’t no need to go diggin’ for family ties that ain’t there.
Sometimes, people just like to make connections where there ain’t none. It’s a funny thing, really. But whether they’re related or not, both of ’em are legends in their own right, and they sure have given Pittsburgh something to be proud of over the years.
So, the next time someone asks ya, “Is Najee Harris related to Franco Harris?” you just tell ’em, “No, but both of ’em sure know how to run that ball!”
