So, I got this idea the other day. Been playing a fair bit of Fortnite lately, you know how it is. And I thought, wouldn’t it be kinda cool to have a shot glass with a Fortnite theme? Not something bought, but something I actually put together myself. Adds a bit more character, right?

Getting Started
First thing, I needed the basics. I just grabbed one of those plain, cheap shot glasses you can find anywhere. Nothing fancy. Then I hunted down some of that glass etching cream. Found some Armour Etch stuff, heard it works okay. Also needed tape – masking tape or that sticky vinyl stuff people use for crafts. And a sharp little knife, like an X-Acto, for cutting. Oh, and rubbing alcohol to clean the glass properly. Safety stuff too, gloves and glasses, because that etching cream is no joke.
The Plan and the Stencil
I wasn’t aiming for anything too complicated. Just the classic Fortnite ‘F’ logo, the one in the square. Simple, recognizable. My first thought was just using masking tape. I layered some strips onto the glass where I wanted the logo. Then I tried drawing the logo onto the tape and cutting it out with the knife. Man, that was fiddly. Keeping the lines sharp on a curved surface? Tricky. Peeled away the ‘F’ part, leaving the square border taped down.
Honestly, the tape method felt a bit rough. I had some vinyl adhesive sheet lying around from another project, so I decided to try that instead. Felt a bit more pro, you know? I printed out the logo nice and small, stuck it onto the vinyl, and then carefully cut the ‘F’ and its square outline out of the vinyl. This made a proper stencil. I peeled the backing off and stuck this vinyl stencil onto the clean shot glass. Really took my time pressing down all the edges. Didn’t want that etching cream sneaking underneath.
Etching Time
Alright, gloves on, glasses on. Safety first, always. I opened up the etching cream. Doesn’t smell great, gotta say. Using a little brush – I think it was just a cheap craft brush – I dabbed a thick layer of the cream onto the cut-out area of the stencil. You gotta lay it on thick, apparently. No thin spots. Then, the waiting game. The bottle said wait about 5-10 minutes. Felt longer, just staring at it.
Wash and Reveal
Time’s up. Took the glass over to the sink, kept the gloves on, and rinsed all the cream off under running water. Lots of water. Rubbed it a bit gently to make sure all the gunk was gone. Then, the moment of truth. Carefully peeled off the vinyl stencil. And there it was! A frosted Fortnite logo etched right onto the glass.
Final Result
Dried it off properly. It wasn’t like, laser-perfect or anything. A tiny bit fuzzy around one edge, maybe I didn’t press the stencil down hard enough there. But hey, it looked pretty cool! Definitely recognizable. It’s got that handmade vibe, which is what I was going for anyway.
- Got a plain shot glass.
- Made a vinyl stencil of the Fortnite logo.
- Used etching cream to frost the design onto the glass.
- Cleaned it all up.
Pretty chuffed with how it turned out. It’s a simple little thing, but it was fun to make. Now I’ve got my own custom Fortnite shot glass for game nights. Definitely beats a plain one. Might make a few more with different game logos, who knows. It’s a neat little project if you’ve got an hour or two free.
