Okay, so I’ve been gearing up for the 2024 US Open, not playing, obviously, haha, but I’ve been diving deep into the apparel side of things. I wanted to really understand what the pros wear and maybe get some inspiration for my own, much more amateur, golf game.

I started by just browsing, you know, the usual big sports websites. I typed in “2024 US Open Golf Apparel” and just started scrolling. I wanted to see what kept popping up, what brands were being featured, and what styles were trending.
My observations
- Lots of Performance Fabrics: It was obvious right away that this wasn’t your grandpa’s golf gear. Everything was about moisture-wicking, breathability, and stretch. Words like “dri-fit” and “climacool” and all that jazz were all over the place.
- Bold Colors and Patterns: I saw a surprising amount of bright colors and even some pretty bold patterns. It wasn’t just the traditional navy and white anymore. There were some sharp-looking polos with interesting color blocking and even some subtle prints.
- Athletic Fit: Everything seemed to have a more athletic, tailored fit. Not super tight, but definitely not the baggy, boxy look of the past. The shirts and pants were designed to move with the golfer, not restrict them.
- The big names stand out: No Surprise, some brands always stand out.
I spent a good chunk of time just clicking through different items, reading the descriptions, and trying to get a feel for the materials. I even looked at some of the “player edition” stuff, which was cool, even if it was way out of my price range!
After my initial browsing, I started to focus on specific items. I looked at polos, pants, shorts, outerwear (in case it gets chilly), and even hats and belts. I wanted to see how the pros put together a complete outfit, and what kind of details they seemed to prioritize.
It’s been a learning experience.I can get some pretty good inspiration from this. Maybe I won’t be playing like a pro anytime soon, but hey, at least I can try to look the part, right?
