Okay, so I was messing around with some NFL draft stuff, specifically looking at Nicholas Singleton, and I figured I’d jot down what I did. It’s nothing fancy, just my usual process when I’m trying to get a feel for a player.

Digging into Nicholas Singleton’s Draft Prospects
First thing I did was, you know, just a basic search. I wanted to see what the general buzz was around him.
- I typed “Nicholas Singleton NFL Draft” into the search bar. Just keeping it simple.
- I am looking for some scouting reports, mock drafts, anything that gives a general idea of his draft stock.
After I read through a few things, I got a basic sense of where he’s projected, his strengths, his weaknesses, all that good stuff. I always, read a few different opinions because, let’s face it, everyone sees things a bit differently.
I like to check a few different Mock Draft like CBS, ESPN, and PFF, these are all giving their own opinions, so its good to keep researching all of them.
Then, after this I wanted to deep-dive, and go look at the player’s profile, so, for example, Penn State, and try to read their stats.
- Checked out his official college stats page.
- Looked for year-by-year breakdowns. I want to see how he improved (or didn’t) over his college career.
- Payed close attention to things like rushing yards, touchdowns, yards per carry, and any receiving stats if he’s involved in the passing game.
After I look at his stats, I watched some of highlights. Stats are cool, but they don’t always tell the whole story. You gotta see the guy play, right?
- Searched his highlights video.
- I’m not just looking for the flashy plays. I’m trying to get a sense of his running style, his vision, how he breaks tackles, and stuff like that.
And, after I got a decent feel for Singleton, then I did it all over again, search with another player from the draft, the thing with the draft is, you can’t just focus on one player, you gotta check out a bunch and compare them.
So yeah, that’s how I spent my afternoon. It’s not rocket science, just a simple way to get my head around a player’s NFL draft potential. Hope this gives you some ideas for your own research!
