Okay, here’s my sharing about the Oklahoma City Drillers football:
So, I was digging around the internet, trying to find some info on the Oklahoma City Drillers football team. Turns out, it’s a bit of a mixed bag.
I started by just typing “Oklahoma City Drillers football” into the search bar. Right away, I saw a few things pop up. There was something about former college players being on the roster, which got me curious. I figured, “Hey, maybe there are some guys I’ve heard of.”
Some Former State College Players
- Milton
- Emmet Sheehan
- Landon Knack
Then I stumbled upon another piece mentioning that the Drillers only played for one season way back in 1948. I thought, “Only one season? What happened there?” It seems like pro football teams in Oklahoma City have had a tough time sticking around.
I also found some stuff about current NFL players with Oklahoma ties. I guess the state has a pretty good football tradition, even if the pro teams haven’t always been successful. It was cool to see that eleven former Oklahoma players were in the 2023 NFL playoffs, and that the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs had some Oklahoma guys.
So, after all that, I ended up with more questions than answers about the Oklahoma City Drillers. I learned that they had a brief history, that there are some former state college players in pro football, and that Oklahoma has a strong football tradition. It’s a bit of a puzzle, but it was fun to explore. I guess I’ll keep digging and see what else I can find out. Who knows, maybe there’s a bigger story behind that one season in 1948.
