Okay, so, I’ve been seeing a lot of chatter online about Pat Perez and his gear, what he’s using, and how often he switches it up. I gotta say, it’s been a wild ride keeping up with the guy, so I figured, why not dive deep, do some digging, and share my own experience following his ever-changing WITB?
First off, let me tell you, this guy, Pat, he’s been shaking things up big time. It’s not just his clubs, but also where he’s playing. He jumped from the PGA Tour to the LIV Golf League. I watched him leave the PGA, and that was a bit of a shock. I remember watching his last few tournaments, and you could tell something was brewing.
Then, I started noticing the changes in his bag. One day he’s got one set of irons, the next it’s something completely different. I was constantly checking updates, trying to keep track. I specifically recall seeing him swap out his irons. He was using a mixed set of Srixon ZX5 Mk II and ZX7 Mk II. I even saw some close-up photos of those clubs, and they looked pretty sweet. I had to try them out myself, hitting a few balls at the local range, just to get a feel. They were solid, I gotta admit. But then, bam, he switches again!
From what I’ve gathered, he’s been leaning heavily on Ping woods and PXG irons. That combination was interesting, too. I went down to the golf shop and tested out a few similar setups. The Ping woods, they felt powerful, gave me some serious distance. The PXG irons, they were precise, had a good feel to them. I started to understand why he might have chosen that particular combo.
And don’t even get me started on the shafts. He’s using some LA Golf prototype shafts. I haven’t gotten my hands on those yet, but I’ve heard good things. The buzz is that they provide a unique feel and performance. I’m definitely going to keep an eye out for those. I’ve been calling around, trying to find a place that has them in stock, but no luck so far.
His putter, though, that’s another story. He’s been rolling with an LA Golf Malibu putter. I’ve seen him sink some impressive putts with it. I managed to try one out at a demo day, and it felt pretty balanced. I could see why a pro might choose it. But you know Pat, he might just switch to something else next week. He actually did use a different putter last season, but I can’t recall the name at the moment.
He plays for 4Aces GC in the LIV Golf League, he’s got his own style. Him and his team are always fun to watch. I followed their progress throughout the season. They had a good run at the Team Championship, finishing second overall. I was glued to the screen during that final tournament. The tension was palpable, you could feel it through the screen. It was a nail-biter, and even though they didn’t win, they put up a good fight. He is still on good terms with PXG though, he just said that they couldn’t reach an agreement this time around.
It’s been a real adventure trying to follow Pat Perez’s WITB journey. It’s like a constantly evolving puzzle. I’ve spent hours online, reading articles, watching videos, and even trying out some of the gear myself. It’s been fun, frustrating, and always interesting. I’m excited to see what he does next, what new gear he’ll try, and how it will impact his game. I’ll definitely keep you all updated as I continue to follow along!
