Man, let me tell you about my little adventure trying to figure out what’s in Paul Casey’s golf bag. This guy, he’s a pro, right? Plays on the LIV Golf tour now, used to be big on the European Tour. I heard he won some tournament in Dubai at the start of 2021 – that’s his fifteenth win or something, pretty impressive.
So, I got this itch to know what gear he’s using. It’s like, you see someone do well, and you wonder, “Is it the shoes? The clubs?” You know what I mean? Anyway, I dug around a bit, trying to find some solid info.
First thing I noticed was that he’s all about Nike when it comes to clothes and shoes. Makes sense, I guess. I think he used to use their clubs too, but not anymore.
Then it gets a bit tricky. Apparently, Casey’s kind of a free agent when it comes to clubs. He can use whatever he wants. I found out that in 2021, he was messing around with some Honma prototypes, but then he just went back to his old Mizuno irons. Two different models, if you can believe it. For his longer irons, the three and four, he’s got these Mizuno JPX 919 Hot Metal Pro things. Then, from the five-iron down to the pitching wedge, he’s using a set of Mizuno MP-5’s.
My Findings
It’s kind of cool, right? A mix and match, kind of like my own bag, except mine is not as fancy. I just use whatever I can afford and what feels good.
- Apparel: All Nike, head to toe.
- Shoes: Nike, of course.
- Irons:
- 3 & 4 irons: Mizuno JPX 919 Hot Metal Pro
- 5 iron – PW: Mizuno MP-5
And get this – back in July 2022, he joined that LIV Golf tour. Played his first tournament at some fancy Trump National Golf Club in New Jersey and came in sixth! Won a nice little chunk of change too – $648.
So yeah, that’s what I found out about Paul Casey’s gear. It was a fun little research project, kind of like a treasure hunt. It’s always interesting to see what the pros are using, even if it doesn’t magically make me play like them. Still, a guy can dream, right?
Maybe one day I will switch it up and see how well it will go. But for now, I’m happy with what I’ve got.
