Alright, let’s talk about this young fella, Paulino Santana. Don’t know much about fancy baseball stuff, but I heard folks talkin’, so I figured I’d tell ya what I know.
Who is this Paulino Santana fella, anyway? Well, from what I gather, he’s a young baseball player. Plays for them Texas Rangers, though I ain’t never seen him play myself. They say he’s a right fielder, which I guess means he stands out there in the field on the right side. He also plays centerfield and leftfield sometimes, so he’s one of them fellas runnin’ around catchin’ balls, y’know?
Now, they say he’s a pretty good one, too. One of them “prospects,” they call ’em. Means he’s got potential, like a good seed that might grow into a big ol’ corn stalk. Folks keep sayin’ he’s the number two prospect outta all them international fellas. That sounds important, I reckon. He signed with the Rangers from the Dominican Republic. Don’t know where that is exactly, but it sounds far away. They gave him a whole bunch of money, too. Over a thousand dollars, they said. That’s a lot of money for a young fella, let me tell ya. Makes ya wonder what he’s gonna do with it all.
- Born November 17, 2006
- From Santo Domingo
- Plays for the Texas Rangers (minors)
- Right-handed batter and thrower
- 6 foot 2 inches tall, 180 pounds
They also said he’s six foot two and weighs 180 pounds. That’s a pretty good size, I guess. Tall enough to reach them high balls and strong enough to hit ’em far. He hits right-handed, throws right-handed. Seems like a normal fella to me. I don’t know much about all them baseball numbers, the stats they call ’em. But I heard folks sayin’ he’s got a good bat. Means he can hit the ball good, I figure. And he’s fast, too, gotta be fast to catch them balls in the outfield.
What team does he play for? Well, like I said, he’s with the Texas Rangers, but he’s still in the minor leagues. That’s like the practice team, I guess. He ain’t playin’ with the big boys yet, but they say he’s got a good chance of gettin’ there. He’s gotta work hard, though. Baseball ain’t easy. Gotta practice every day, gotta listen to your coaches, gotta stay outta trouble. That’s what my grandpappy always used to say, anyway. He didn’t play no baseball, but he knew a thing or two about workin’ hard.
So, yeah, that’s about all I know about this Paulino Santana. He’s a young fella with a lot of potential. People are excited about him, and I guess that’s a good thing. Maybe someday I’ll see him play on TV. Or maybe he’ll come visit our town, who knows? Wouldn’t that be somethin’? A big baseball star comin’ to our little town. Well, a fella can dream, can’t he?
Where can you find out more? Now, if you want to know more about this fella, you gotta go look it up on that internet thingy. They got all sorts of information on there, more than I could ever tell ya. Just type in his name, Paulino Santana, and you’ll find all sorts of stuff. Pictures, news, stats, all that fancy business. Just be careful, that internet can be a wild place. Don’t believe everything you read, and don’t go givin’ your information to just anybody. That’s what my daughter always tells me, and she knows a thing or two about that internet stuff.
Anyways, that’s the story on Paulino Santana as best as I can tell it. He’s a young fella with a bright future, Lord willin’. Hope he does well and makes folks proud. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go check on my garden. Them tomatoes ain’t gonna water themselves, ya know.
