Now, you know, when you talk about Roman Reigns, you can’t go and forget about his brother. That man, Matt Anoa’i, a fella who went by the ring name “Rosey,” was a wrestler too, just like Roman. They come from a big ol’ family of wrestlers, them Anoa’is, all strong and built like oxen. Matt, he was born in San Francisco on April 7, 1970. His father, Sika Anoa’i, was a famous wrestler himself, and his mama, Patricia Hooker, she was part of the family too. So you see, wrestling ran deep in their blood.
Now, I reckon you probably heard Roman Reigns’ name in the ring a lot. He’s the big guy they cheer for on WWE Raw. But you might not know his brother Matt as well. Well, that’s because Matt, or “Rosey,” wasn’t as much in the spotlight as Roman. But make no mistake, he was still a big deal in the wrestling world. Rosey was a part of WWE, and him and his brother Roman made sure that their family name was known in the ring. They were both part of the Anoa’i wrestling clan, a family with a history of big, tough wrestlers.
Matt Anoa’i, or Rosey, he wasn’t just a sidekick. He had his own tag team championship win in WWE. Him and his partner, Jamal, they were known as the “Three Minute Warning” in the WWE. But, like so many wrestlers, he had to fight more than just his opponents in the ring. Rosey had some health troubles, you see. In 2017, he passed away at just 47 years old after fighting heart problems like congestive heart failure. It was a sad day for his family, and for all those who knew him as a strong, dedicated wrestler.
Roman Reigns, he took that loss hard. After his brother passed, Roman spoke a lot about how much he meant to him. Losing someone like that, especially a brother, is tough. And wrestling, well, it’s a rough world, you know? It takes a toll on your body and your heart. But despite everything, Roman still kept on, keeping his brother’s memory alive and doing what they both loved. You can imagine it wasn’t easy, and losing Rosey was a big hit for him, personally and professionally.
It’s a shame when a good soul like Rosey passes away so young, especially when you think about how much he still had to give. But you know, the Anoa’i family, they don’t let things break them for too long. They keep pushing through, like they always have. They’re tough folk, and they stick together, even when times are rough. If you ever watch WWE, you’ll know that Roman Reigns, even though he’s standing tall in that ring, he’s still carrying his family with him, especially his brother Matt.
Now, some folks might think Roman Reigns and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson are brothers, but that ain’t quite right. They ain’t blood relatives. But they’re close enough, you know? Their grandfathers were blood brothers, and that makes them part of the same wrestling family. So even if they ain’t brothers by blood, they’re definitely brothers in spirit. It’s all part of that big ol’ Samoan wrestling family that’s been making waves for generations.
In the end, whether it’s Roman Reigns or his brother Rosey, they both carry that wrestling tradition with pride. They don’t forget where they came from, and they sure don’t forget their family. Wrestling, for the Anoa’is, it’s more than just a sport. It’s about legacy, honor, and sticking by your family no matter what. And for Roman, that legacy will always include his brother, Rosey, even though he’s no longer here with us.
