Saw “ruusuvuori vs” flashing somewhere online, and it just clicked, took me back. Back to a few weeks ago, I was properly stuck. You know that feeling? Like your brain’s turned to concrete. I was supposed to be finishing up this presentation deck, but nothing was working. Just staring at the screen.

Flipped on the TV, some tennis match was on. Didn’t catch the opponent, but saw Ruusuvuori playing. He was sweating, looked tired, probably down a set or something. But he was still chasing every single ball. Like, really going for it, even the ones that looked impossible.
That Darn Deck
And I’m sitting there, feeling sorry for myself ’cause my PowerPoint transitions weren’t smooth enough. Pathetic, right? Watching this guy fight for every point, under pressure, made my stupid deck problem seem kinda small.
It wasn’t about suddenly getting inspired with brilliant ideas. Nah. It was more like a kick in the pants. Stop whining, just do the work. Break it down.
- Okay, fix slide 5 first. Just slide 5.
- Then figure out that awkward image placement.
- Worry about the fancy transitions later, or maybe just ditch them.
Ended up scrapping half the fancy stuff I was trying to force. Made it simpler. Sometimes you overcomplicate things, try to be too clever. Like maybe trying a crazy drop shot when a simple return would do. Dunno if Ruusuvuori won that match, doesn’t matter. It was the reminder to just focus, put in the effort, and stop fighting yourself. The real ‘vs’ was me vs my own procrastination and perfectionism.
