Okay, here’s my blog post about my little adventure trying to figure out what’s up with Sean O’Flaherty and Rory McIlroy:

So, the other day, I was down this internet rabbit hole, you know how it is. I stumbled upon something about Sean O’Flaherty and Rory McIlroy, and I was like, “Wait, what’s the connection there?” I’m a huge golf fan, obviously know McIlroy, but O’Flaherty? I had to dig in.
First, I started with a basic search. Just typed both names into the search bar, fingers crossed. Nothing super clear popped up right away. Mostly just individual stuff about each of them. Rory’s stats, tournament wins, the usual. Sean, a bit more scattered – mentions here and there, some coaching stuff.
Then, I tried to get a bit more specific. I added some keywords like “coach,” “golf,” “relationship.” That helped narrow it down a little. I started seeing some mentions of O’Flaherty being involved in McIlroy’s, shall we say, support team.
I dug through a few articles, mostly sports news sites and some golf blogs. It seemed like O’Flaherty was more of a behind-the-scenes guy. Not his main swing coach, but definitely someone McIlroy consults with. The vibe I got was more about the mental game, maybe some performance coaching. One article, and only one, I found, I read it, and it had some speculation about their work together. It’s not always easy to tell what’s really going on from the outside, right?
My persistence paid off.
So, after all that digging, here’s what I pieced together. It looks like Sean O’Flaherty is part of the wider team that helps Rory McIlroy stay at the top of his game. He probably brings a different perspective, maybe focusing on performance and mindset. Not the main coach, but a valuable asset nonetheless.
It was a fun little investigation. Reminds you that there’s always more going on behind the scenes than we see on TV! I will keep you all informed if I can get more information.
