Alright, guys, let’s talk about finding the perfect spot to build your base on the Ark Fjordur map. I spent a good chunk of time exploring, scouting, and getting chomped on by various creatures, all so you don’t have to! So, here’s the lowdown on my building adventures.

My Fjordur Building Journey
First off, I loaded up Fjordur with the intention of finding some unique and, most importantly, defensible locations. I mean, who wants their hard work turned into dino snacks, right?
My initial thought was, “Go big or go home!” I started scouring the map, looking for those hidden gems. I checked out some of the usual spots other players mentioned, but I wanted something different.
- Explored the caves: I dove into several caves, thinking I might find a super-secret, super-secure spot. Some were pretty cool, but either too small, too full of critters, or just not quite right.
- Checked the Redwoods Find a great spot, but many critters.
- Scouted the islands: I flew around the various islands, hoping for that perfect isolated paradise. Found a few decent spots, but resource gathering seemed like it would be a pain.
Then it hit me – I needed to think outside the box. I started looking at areas that weren’t necessarily “obvious” choices. I focused on:
- Elevated terrain: Cliffs, plateaus, anything that gave me a natural height advantage. Easier to defend, harder for dinos to reach.
- Resource proximity: Gotta have metal, stone, wood, and all that good stuff nearby. No one wants to trek across the map for every little thing.
- Water access Good Water sources.
- Aesthetics: Okay, maybe not essential, but I wanted a place that looked cool too!
After a lot more exploring (and a few more unfortunate dino encounters), I finally stumbled upon a few locations that really stood out. I spent time building small test structures, checking sightlines for defense, and making sure I could easily get resources.
I eventually settled on two and built my main base.
It’s up high, got decent resource spawns nearby, and, best of all, it looks awesome!
So, that’s my story! Remember, the “best” location is subjective. It depends on your playstyle, your needs, and what you find fun. But hopefully, my little adventure gives you some ideas and helps you find your own perfect Fjordur home!
