Okay, so I’ve been messing around with my golf gear lately, trying to dial everything in, you know? I saw Sahith Theegala’s setup and thought, “Hey, that’s interesting, let’s see what I can learn.” So, I started digging into what he’s using.

The Driver
First up, the driver. I checked out a few articles and forum posts to see what driver Theegala is gaming. Turns out, he’s got a Ping G425 LST. I’ve used Ping drivers before, and I’ve always liked the feel. So, I pulled out my old G410 and gave it a few swings. Not the same, but it got me thinking about shaft flex and loft.
The Fairway Woods and Hybrids
Next, I looked at his fairway woods and hybrids. He’s got a mix, which I found cool. I’ve always been a bit inconsistent with my long game, sometimes hitting my 3-wood great, other times topping it like a newbie. I grabbed my own 3-wood and hybrid and headed to the range.
- I spent about an hour just hitting balls, focusing on my setup and swing path.
- I tried to mimic Theegala’s smooth tempo, which is something I’ve always admired.
- I noticed that I was hitting my hybrid much more consistently, so maybe I need to rethink my 3-wood situation.
The Irons
Theegala’s irons are Ping iBlades. Now, I don’t have those, but I do have a set of older Mizuno blades. I took them out of the closet, cleaned them up, and compared them to my current set of cavity backs. The difference in feel was HUGE. I realized how much feedback I was missing with my current irons.
I went back to rang again.
The Wedges and Putter
For wedges, he’s got a pretty standard setup. I’ve always been pretty happy with my wedges, so I didn’t spend too much time there. His putter is a Ping Anser, I tried a friend’s, and it’s great.
After all this tinkering and experimenting, I did notice I can improve my *’s not about copying his exact setup, but understanding why he uses what he uses. I learned a lot about my own preferences and what I need to work on.
