Okay, so, here’s the deal with Odell Beckham Jr. and my fantasy football draft.
I was really hyped about the idea of getting OBJ on my team. I mean, the guy’s a legend, right? But then I started digging into it, and things got a little complicated.
First off, I went to a few different fantasy football advice sites. You know, the ones that give you all sorts of recommendations and rankings. I was curious to see what the so-called “experts” were saying about him. They have these tools where you can compare players side-by-side and see who you should draft. I checked it out.
And guess what? The results were kind of all over the place. Some people were still high on OBJ, saying he’s going to have a comeback year. Others were like, “Nah, pass on him.” There was one guy, some Andrew Erickson from FantasyPros, who had some specific draft notes on him. I read through those, but honestly, it just added to my confusion. They didn’t even agree on anything.
Then I started thinking about his situation. He’s coming off an injury, and we don’t even know how big of a role he’s going to have on his new team. It’s like, is he going to be the star receiver, or is he going to be sharing the spotlight? There is one thing on the Internet saying, “We will see how big a role he plays in his 2024 debut.” I searched this.
I even compared him to Jerry Jeudy, just to see what the experts would say. I typed both their names into one of those comparison tools, and it spit out a bunch of recommendations from different “experts”. The Internet said, “Get instant advice on your decision to draft Odell Beckham Jr. or Jerry Jeudy in 2024. We offer recommendations from over 100 fantasy football experts”. I read it and this got me wondering.
-
Option 1: Draft OBJ and hope he returns to his former glory.
-
Option 2: Pass on OBJ and go for someone more reliable.
-
Option 3: Try to get him in a later round as a backup.
What I finally did
I decided I would wait to see the result of “2024 debut”. I didn’t draft him in the early rounds. I figured it’s better to play it safe and see how things shake out. It’s a long season, and there’s always a chance he could surprise everyone, but there are some other guys, maybe some younger players with more upside, that I’d rather take a chance on. For now, I placed my focus on someone else.
So yeah, that’s my story with Odell Beckham Jr. and my fantasy draft. It was a bit of a rollercoaster, but in the end, I just had to go with my gut. This is the thing about fantasy football. You can read all the advice in the world, but sometimes you just have to make your own call.
