Okay, folks, let’s dive into my little experiment with starting Derrick Henry this week. I gotta say, it was a rollercoaster!

It all started with me staring at my fantasy lineup, feeling that familiar pre-game anxiety. You know the feeling? Henry had been a bit shaky the last couple of weeks, and I was seriously considering benching him. I mean, the Titans’ offense had looked, well, let’s just say “not great.”
I spent a good hour just going back and forth. Checking stats, reading “expert” opinions (which, let’s be honest, are often just educated guesses), and basically driving myself crazy.
The Debate
- Pro-Henry: He’s Derrick Freaking Henry! The guy’s a beast, and he’s always a threat to explode for a huge game.
- Anti-Henry: The Titans’ offense is struggling. He’s been getting stuffed at the line. The matchup wasn’t ideal.
Finally, I decided to just go with my gut. I’ve always been a “start your studs” kind of guy, and Henry definitely qualifies as a stud. I figured, worst-case scenario, he has a bad game, and I learn a lesson. Best-case scenario, he goes off, and I look like a genius (which, let’s be real, rarely happens).
So, I locked him in. Slotted him into that RB1 spot and tried to forget about it. Easier said than done, of course.
Game time! I was glued to the TV, nervously watching every Titans snap. The first quarter? Nothing. Second quarter? A couple of decent runs, but still no touchdowns. My anxiety was rising. I started second-guessing myself, of course.
Then, BAM! Third quarter, Henry breaks off a long run. My heart was pounding! He gets tackled just short of the end zone, but a few plays later, he punches it in. Touchdown! I was yelling at the TV like a crazy person.
He ended up with a solid game – not his best, but definitely respectable. And more importantly, he got me those crucial fantasy points!
The lesson? Sometimes, you just gotta trust your gut (and your studs!). It doesn’t always work out, but when it does, it feels pretty darn good. It could be better, but for now, I am keeping him!
