Alright, folks, gather ’round, let me tell you about my latest adventure. So, I’ve been hearing a lot about this Stephen Thompson guy, and you know me, I had to check it out for myself. First thing I did was hit up the internet, you know, the usual spots, to see what all the fuss was about.
Turns out, this guy is a big deal in the fighting world. I mean, the dude’s a kickboxing legend! I started reading about his record, and honestly, it blew my mind. 37 amateur wins, 20 professional wins, and not a single loss! We’re talking about a real-life fighting machine here, people.
So, I dug a little deeper. I watched some of his fights. You see him in the ring, and it’s like poetry in motion. He moves so smoothly, it’s almost like he’s floating. His kicks? Forget about it. Lightnin’ fast and powerful. It looks like a karate guy,but I found he uses a wide stance and a low guard, which is pretty cool. It’s clear why they call him “Wonderboy.”
Next, I started looking into his background. He has a 6th-degree black belt in Kempo Karate. He also has a 1st degree in Tetsushin Ryu Jujitsu and a brown belt in RCJ Machado Jiu-jitsu! I tried saying those words five times fast. I mean, that’s a lot of hard work and dedication right there. It’s clear this guy’s put in the hours to become the fighter he is today.
Then, I looked into his UFC career. Turns out, he’s a top-ranked welterweight. He’s up there with the best of the best. He’s even headlined a pay-per-view event, fighting for the welterweight champion title. He was a champion for a long time, and also, a five-time world champion kickboxer!
After all this research, I decided to try and incorporate some of his techniques into my own training. Now, I’m not saying I’m gonna become a professional fighter or anything. I started practicing some of his moves, trying to mimic his stance and his kicks, you know? But I just want to see how it feels, maybe improve my own skills a little, you know?

What I learned:
Anyway, that’s my Stephen Thompson deep dive. It was a fun little project, and I learned a lot. Who knows, maybe I’ll even try to catch one of his fights live someday. If you’re into fighting, I definitely recommend checking him out. He’s the real deal.
