Well, let me tell you somethin’ about this fight thing everyone’s yappin’ about. It’s that Stephen Thompson fella against that Shavkat Rakhmonov boy. Now, I ain’t no expert on these punchin’ matches, but I hear things, you know?
This Shavkat, he’s a young’un, from…Kazakhstan, I reckon. Someplace far off. They say he’s never lost a fight. 19-0-0, that’s what they’re sayin’. Nineteen wins and no losses! Can you believe that? He must be tough as nails, that one. Born in ’94, makes him younger than my youngest grandson. Imagine that, beatin’ up folks for a livin’ at that age.
Then there’s this Thompson fella. They call him “Wonderboy,” but he ain’t no boy no more. He’s gettin’ up there in years. They say he is number 11, whatever that means. He was a kickboxer, whatever that is. They say he’s good at kickin’ and punchin’, real good. Undefeated, they used to say. 20 wins, 0 losses, some time ago. But time catches up to everyone, don’t it?
This whole thing is happenin’ in Las Vegas, at some fancy place called T-Mobile Arena. Lots of folks are gonna be there, watchin’ these two fellas go at it. They even got numbers for bettin’. 1.5 this, -180 that, +140 somethin’ else. I don’t understand all that, but it sounds like folks are puttin’ money on who they think is gonna win.
Now, who’s gonna win this shindig? That’s the big question, ain’t it? Some folks, these “experts” they call ’em, are makin’ their predictions. They look at how many fights they won, how they fight, all that stuff. They’re sayin’ this Shavkat fella, he’s likely to win. He is younger and never lost, you see. That mean somethin’.
- Shavkat Rakhmonov: Young, strong, never lost.
- Stephen Thompson: Older, experienced, used to be undefeated, too.
- Las Vegas, big fight, lots of money.
- December 16th, Saturday, that’s when it’s all goin’ down.
But you never know, do you? This Thompson, he might have some tricks up his sleeve. He’s been around the block a few times. Maybe he’s learned a thing or two. It ain’t over till the fat lady sings, as they say. Could be he surprises everyone. You just never know with these fightin’ things. Maybe he’ll pull a rabbit out of a hat, you see. It is not like he ain’t no good, he just old.
I reckon it’ll be a good fight, though. Lots of punchin’ and kickin’, I suppose. That Shavkat, he’s probably gonna come out swingin’. He’s got somethin’ to prove, bein’ undefeated and all. And Thompson, well, he ain’t gonna want to lose, is he? He’s got his pride. It will be a real good show, I guess.
This fight, it’s a big deal, I guess. UFC 296, they’re callin’ it. Whatever that means. Sounds important. Lots of folks will be watchin’, I reckon. They say that this fight will be on Saturday. That December 17th. No, it’s December 16th. My memory is not good. Too many things to remember these days.
So, there you have it. That’s all I know about this Stephen Thompson vs Shavkat Rakhmonov prediction thing. It is a big fight, that’s what they are all saying. Who’s gonna win? Your guess is as good as mine. We’ll just have to wait and see, won’t we?
Me? I’ll probably be at home, tendin’ to my garden. These young folks and their fightin’ games… it’s all a bit much for me. But hey, if it makes ’em happy, then good for them. Just hope nobody gets hurt too bad. That’s all I gotta say about that.
They say this Shavkat want to make it to 18-0. He really want to keep that record, whatever that is. I think he can do it. But, like I say, that Thompson, he is tough, too. I just hope they don’t hurt each other too much. That’s no good. They are just doing their job, I know. But still, it is not nice to see people fight. But, what do I know? I am just an old lady.
Well, I reckon that’s enough of my ramblin’. You young folks enjoy your fight. And remember what I said, you never know what’s gonna happen until it happens. This prediction thing is just guessin’, ain’t it? Just like the weather. You can guess, but you don’t know for sure until it happens. That’s the truth.
