Okay, so I was trying to solve this crossword puzzle the other day, and I got totally stumped by this one clue: “City in Minnesota.” I mean, Minnesota has a bunch of cities, right? How was I supposed to know which one fit?
First, I tried to think of all the Minnesota cities I could remember. You know, like Minneapolis, St. Paul…and that’s about all I could come up with off the top of my head. Obviously, that wasn’t going to cut it.
Brainstorming (and failing)

- Ummm…
So, I grabbed my phone and started googling. I typed in “Minnesota cities” and got a HUGE list. Way too many to just randomly try in the crossword. I needed a better way to narrow it down.
Then I remembered something super important: the number of letters! I counted the blank spaces in the puzzle. Six spaces. Okay, that helped a lot. Back to the Google list I went, this time looking specifically for six-letter city names.
I scrolled through the list, and there it was: DULUTH. Six letters, definitely a city in Minnesota. I plugged it into the crossword, and it fit perfectly! YES! I was so happy to find it!
So, that’s how I figured out that “City in Minnesota” crossword clue. It was kind of fun, after I get the anwser.
